About the Role

IMAX is seeking a dynamic, experienced, and highly organized VP, Head of Global Events to lead the strategy, development, coordination, and execution of world-class events that elevate the IMAX brand and showcase our technology and movies. This executive-level role will oversee a diverse portfolio of internal and external events—ranging from global industry showcases and industry conferences to internal executive meetings employee engagement experiences.

The ideal candidate will bring visionary creativity, flawless execution, and deep industry relationships to amplify IMAX’s global presence across all key touchpoints.

What You'll Do:

Strategic Leadership & Event Vision

  • Lead the global events strategy to reinforce IMAX’s brand positioning in entertainment, technology, and cinematic excellence.

  • Conceptualize, plan, and execute a comprehensive calendar of events including, entertainment conventions, talent appearances, internal meetings, executive summits, partner activations, and more.

  • Collaborate closely with marketing, communications, sales, and executive teams to align event goals with broader business priorities.

  • Serve as the key liaison with senior stakeholders, including exhibition and studio executives and talent representatives.

  • Maintain strong presentation and polish when interfacing with the CEO, senior management team, and the Board.

Event Development & Execution

  • Drive end-to-end event planning—from ideation to logistics to post-event analysis—with precision, creativity, and polish.

  • Uphold a high standard of excellence, where no detail is too small.

  • Ensure brand consistency and elevated guest experiences across all touchpoints and markets.

  • Manage high-pressure, high-visibility events such as CEO Forum, annual sales meetings, and global industry showcases, with contingency planning (Plans A, B, and C) for every scenario.

  • Oversee the development of all event collateral including invitations, run-of-show documents, signage, and promotional materials.

  • Manage global RSVP tracking, venue scouting and contracting, travel and hospitality logistics, AV and staging, screening coordination, and vendor management.

  • Key events include but are not limited to: IMAX CEO Forum, an annual, invite-only conference for global exhibition CEO, filmmakers and talent, top studio executives, and other industry leaders; CinemaCon; international cinema and exhibition conferences around the world, including CineEurope and CineAsia; annual sales meetings; quarterly senior management meetings; quarterly board meetings, global town halls, industry screenings and events

Team Management & Collaboration

  • Supervise and mentor a high-performing Global Corporate Events team, supporting their work on research, brainstorming, vendor coordination, and promotional initiatives.

  • Serve as the ambassador for the senior management team, engaging with internal stakeholders and external partners at all levels.

  • Support general administrative and operational tasks including sales conference preparation, gift inventory management, and promotional item tracking.

  • Maintain regular communication with internal departments and external partners to ensure seamless collaboration.

Budgeting & Operations

  • Track and manage multimillion-dollar event budgets across regions, ensuring cost-efficiency without compromising quality.

  • Maintain and regularly update a global database of event venues, hotels, restaurants, and service providers.

  • Develop and maintain a venue and meeting portfolio with comprehensive pricing and service offerings.

Stakeholder & Talent Relations

  • Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders at industry conferences, film studios, and partner organizations.

  • Oversee VIP and talent relations, ensuring a seamless, high-touch experience for guests, executives, and talent.

  • Representing IMAX at key events, often serving as the front-and-center on-site lead for major activations, premieres, and executive gatherings.

  • Be visible and engaged at industry networking opportunities, strengthening IMAX’s relationships globally.

What You'll Need:

  • 12+ years of senior-level experience in global event production, brand marketing, or entertainment/experiential marketing.

  • Strong knowledge of the entertainment industry and evolving event/marketing trends.

  • Proven ability to lead large-scale, high-impact events from concept to completion.

  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.

  • Highly creative, detail-oriented, and a proactive problem-solver.

  • Strong organizational and multitasking skills in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.

  • Must be a collaborative team player with a flexible, can-do attitude.

  • Adept at relationship-building with executives, talent, vendors, and partners; able to represent IMAX with confidence and finesse.

  • Experience managing budgets creatively without compromising quality.

  • Sales experience or deep understanding of the sales process, including working with exhibitors, studios, and key partners to drive brand loyalty.

  • A passion for movies, innovation, and delivering flawless, unforgettable experiences.

Please note that the compensation range listed below states base salary only. The total compensation package will include benefits, bonus, and equity.

Compensation:

198,898.00 - 210,000.00
