We are a global team of innovators and pioneers dedicated to shaping the future of observability. At New Relic, we build an intelligent platform that empowers companies to thrive in an AI-first world by giving them unparalleled insight into their complex systems. As we continue to expand our global footprint, we're looking for passionate people to join our mission. If you're ready to help the world's best companies optimize their digital applications, we invite you to explore a career with us!

Your opportunity
We are seeking a visionary VP of Enterprise Information Technology (EIT) to lead our unified technology mandate. This role is responsible for transforming fragmented operations into a scalable architecture and driving an AI-First strategy. The ideal candidate will move us from "building tools" to "orchestrating outcomes," ensuring operational reliability (Customer Zero model), rigorous compliance (FedRAMP/IL4), and fiscal efficiency aligned with the Rule of 40.

What you'll do

  • Strategic Unification: Architect and drive a strategy to eliminate the "Silo Tax," reduce technical debt, and centralize technical operations.
  • Operational Excellence: Implement the "Customer Zero" reliability model to ensure internal systems meet the same rigorous stability and monitoring standards as our customer-facing products.
  • Governance & Compliance: Lead the organization's compliance efforts for internal tooling, specifically scaling and sustaining FedRAMP/IL4 requirements for those systems.
  • Fiscal Stewardship: Drive resource allocation and cost optimization strategies that directly impact EBITDA margins and support Rule of 40 goals.
  • Leadership & Talent: Manage and develop high-performing teams, mentor Directors, and foster a culture of cross-functional accountability and innovation.

This role requires

  • 15+ years of enterprise IT experience with 10+ years leading teams, with multiple levels of management.
  • Business Perspective: Deep understanding of internal/external business contexts and the ability to map technical work to business outcomes.
  • Leading the Organization: Proven ability to break down silos, inspire execution, and get teams unstuck through ambiguity.
  • Organizational Savvy: Ability to navigate cultural norms, influence stakeholders, and manage sensitive situations with diplomacy.
  • Strategic Vision: Ability to anticipate trends, manage risks, and communicate how technical priorities align with long-term company goals.
  • Change Management: Willingness to "break glass" and disrupt the system to build something better, rallying the organization around the new vision.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
