Seeq makes data analytics software for a big market that’s often overlooked by tech companies: industrial process data. Think pharmaceutical manufacturers, wind farms, and energy companies with tons of equipment and sensors. Our software engineers tackle hard problems in streaming calculation, storage, and distributed computing, leveraging the latest features in Java, Kotlin, React, Python, Kubernetes and many other frameworks and technologies. We believe that AI is an exciting revolution in developer tooling and features we will bring to our customers, while also presenting new and real challenges to how people interact with each other.
We are looking for an engineering leader with a proven track record of managing technical teams and taking them to the next level. We have a solid set of development squads in place with a good foundation of processes, engineering talent, and a history of delivering best-in-class software. This position will lead the end-user facing squads, roughly half the engineering team, and expand our engineering capacity as we continue to grow our customer base and market aspirations.
Our company was founded 100% remote and we're proud of it. We’ve been good at remote for over 13 years and have used that advantage to create a global team despite our modest company size. Our engineers work anywhere in a compatible time zone (our core hours are 8am-12pm Pacific). We use a variety of collaboration tools, like Zoom, Slack, and our homegrown Qube Virtual Office, which make us feel like we're in the same building together. We use agile tenets to iterate on both our product and development processes. We have a wonderful team of kind-hearted, talented engineers that love to collaborate, teach each other new tricks, and build products that exceed our customers’ expectations.
Our technology stack utilizes JVM languages (Java, Kotlin), Python, TypeScript/React and some C#/.NET. The core of our product is a full-featured calculation engine that can perform complex math and execute machine learning algorithms on streaming time series data. Our SaaS architecture is Kubernetes based, with clusters in a dozen global regions on both AWS and Azure.
Requirements
You love computers and programming. You have a degree in Computer Science or a related technical field or equivalent experience.
You are a hands-on technical leader – your skills and knowledge are current because you have been contributing in meaningful ways to technical teams even as you have advanced in leadership roles.
You have experience in distributed computing and deep knowledge of the cloud ecosystem.
You have deep experience and knowledge of enterprise software development lifecycles, including Agile methodologies (we generally use Scrumban here), CI/CD pipelines, discovery, design, quality assurance and support.
Current and past colleagues would describe you as an inspiring, humble, empathetic, and compassionate leader. You listen well and you are transparent with your thinking. You can influence without relying on hierarchy or authority.
You are a great mentor and coach, and you provide clear guidance. You are not a micro-manager, and you allow your folks and others outside your organization to make mistakes and support them as they learn and adjust.
You lead with curiosity. You actively seek out knowledge, learn quickly, and love to teach.
You are skilled at managing and resolving conflict among individuals, teams, team leaders, and your peers.
You are disciplined with a high attention to detail, reliable communication, and a steady hand.
You are up for traveling periodically to spend time with your team and the company and get some face-to-face time.
You know how to balance life & work despite the demands of a high-level leadership position.
You want to work with a bunch of really smart people that love working together. And you want to work at a scaleup with lots of happy customers, good investors, and a bright future.
