About The Role

The Vice President, Digital Platforms, Data & Transformation is accountable for building the modern digital, data, and integration foundations to drastically improve timelines and business outcomes. They will lead the design, implementation, and scaling of enterprise data platforms, technology enablement, and architecture needed to execute our AI and digital strategy in a complex and regulated environment.

What You'll Do Here

  • Design and implement enterprise data architecture and infrastructure that organizes, secures and makes usable our historical and ongoing scientific and business data across sites and systems.

  • Drive a data strategy covering data quality, standards, stewardship, and secure access as enablers for digital transformation

  • Stand-up platforms, pipelines, and controls required to safely deploy AI and advanced analytics into production workflows.

  • Partner with Security, Validation, Quality, and Compliance to ensure AI and automation meet regulatory, privacy, and validation expectations.

  • Build and manage a high performing team of data scientists, analytics engineers, and product owners (directly or via a dedicated direct report).

  • Create and scale reusable digital solution patterns (e.g., copilots, workflow automation, analytics accelerators) rather than one off proofs of concept.

  • Chair (or co-chair) a technology and data governance council with representation from Legal, Compliance, Security, Quality, and key business units.

  • Contribute to policies and guardrails for responsible AI use, including model selection, data usage, explainability, and human in the loop oversight.

  • Ensure that digital solutions meet validation, auditability, and documentation requirements appropriate for our industry.

  • Own risk management for digital and AI initiatives, including vendor risk, data privacy, and operational resilience.

  • Lead cross‑functional squads that pair technologists with subject‑matter experts to deliver high‑value AI and digital use cases.

  • Drive change‑management plans, including communications, training, and role redesign, so that teams adopt new tools and ways of working.

  • Serve as a visible champion for digital transformation, celebrating wins and removing obstacles.

  • Negotiate and manage strategic relationships with key vendors, integrators, and technology partners.

  • Monitor emerging technologies and market patterns and translate them into actionable opportunities or risk mitigations for the company.

What You'll Need to Succeed

  • Bachelor’s minimum. Ideally an advanced degree in computer science or related area of study combined with experience. Pertinent experience may be considered in lieu of education.

  • 10+ years of experience in senior leadership roles

  • 10+ years leading multi-disciplinary technology teams

  • MS Word, Excel, Outlook and Power Point

  • Demonstrated track record of delivering cross‑functional transformation initiatives with measurable business impact (e.g., productivity, quality, revenue, or customer outcomes).

  • Proven ability to work effectively with senior business stakeholders and to influence strategy without relying solely on positional authority.

  • Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and executive presence.

  • Demonstrated ability to drive strategic change, deliver results, and inspire organizational growth.

  • Strong understanding of enterprise IT domains: infrastructure, networking, security, software development, and operations.

  • Working knowledge of modern data and AI concepts: data platforms and pipelines, analytics, machine learning and generative AI patterns, and MLOps/AI platform basics.

  • Familiarity with governance practices around data privacy, information security, and model risk management.

  • Experience operating in a regulated or highly quality‑constrained environment (e.g., healthcare, life sciences, financial services, critical infrastructure) or similarly complex domain.

  • Demonstrated ability to create high-performing teams – including attracting, retaining, and developing talent.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
