CSC Generation is the AI-native holding company re-engineering omnichannel retail. We acquire iconic brands and transform them with Genesis, our operating platform combining a Data Fabric, Automation Engine, proprietary tools, and shared services to modernize operations, elevate customer experience, and expand margins. With $1B+ in revenue across 13 brands, our portfolio includes Sur La Table, Backcountry, One Kings Lane, and others that serve as real-world innovation labs.

Reports to: Chief Executive Officer

Location: Austin, Texas; Los Angles, CA; Toronto, ON, CAN

About the Role

As our VP of Corporate Development, Portfolio Operations, you will serve as a key architect of CSC Generation's inorganic growth strategy — owning the full M&A lifecycle from target identification through post-acquisition integration and performance tracking across our portfolio.

This role exists to accelerate the pace and quality of our acquisitions while ensuring each new brand is operationally integrated in a way that drives real synergy realization, not just deal close. You will work directly with the CEO and executive leadership, translating strategic priorities into sourced opportunities, executed transactions, and measurable portfolio impact.

At six months, you will have led or advanced at least one active transaction and established a repeatable integration framework used across the portfolio. At twelve months, you will own the corporate development roadmap and be the internal authority on how CSC evaluates and absorbs new businesses.

What You'll Do

    M&A Strategy & Execution
  • Collaborate with executive leadership to develop and refine CSC Generation's corporate development strategy, ensuring alignment with overall business objectives and growth targets.
  • Lead the end-to-end M&A process, including target identification, operational and financial due diligence, valuation analysis, negotiation, and integration planning.
  • Perform financial modeling, valuation analysis, and investment thesis development to evaluate potential M&A targets and partnership opportunities.
  • Identify and assess risks associated with potential transactions and develop mitigation strategies to protect CSC Generation's interests.
  • Portfolio Operations & Integration
  • Lead post-acquisition operational integration, including aligning systems and processes, driving synergy realization, and implementing performance tracking across acquired portfolio companies.
  • Collaborate with operational teams to develop and execute post-merger integration plans, ensuring seamless transition and realization of synergies.
  • Conduct comprehensive market research and analysis to identify emerging trends, competitive threats, and potential investment opportunities within the retail and consumer sectors.
  • Stakeholder Engagement & Leadership
  • Build and maintain relationships with key internal and external stakeholders, including executive leadership, board members, investors, and potential partners.
  • Provide leadership, mentorship, and guidance to your team, fostering a culture of collaboration, excellence, and continuous improvement.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Business Administration, Finance, or a related field.
  • 8+ years of experience in corporate development, investment banking, private equity, or management consulting, with a proven track record of executing complex M&A transactions and strategic partnerships.
  • Deep understanding of the retail and consumer industries, with experience evaluating market dynamics, competitive landscapes, and growth opportunities.
  • Strong financial acumen, including proficiency in financial modeling, valuation techniques, and deal structuring.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate across functions and influence senior stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience building and managing high-performing teams.

Preferred Qualifications

  • MBA or equivalent advanced degree.
  • Direct experience in multi-brand portfolio environments or platform companies.
  • Prior exposure to AI-enabled or technology-forward retail or e-commerce businesses.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
