Job Title:VP Clinical Technology and Programs

Job Description:

At agilon Health, we are redefining healthcare by empowering primary care physicians to thrive in value-based care environments.

The Vice President, Clinical Technology Programs will serve as the strategic and operational leader for the design, development, and execution of Agilon’s clinical programs — combining clinical excellence with technology, data, and product innovation.
This leader will define how Agilon designs, scales, and optimizes programs that improve outcomes, reduce variability, and enable physicians to deliver proactive, evidence-based care. The VP will bring together clinical strategy, product management, and technology integration to ensure every program is powered by data, embedded in workflow, and measurable in impact.

The ideal candidate blends clinical credibility with product and operational leadership, capable of guiding cross-functional teams that include clinicians, engineers, analysts, and operations leaders to build scalable, technology-enabled care models.

Essential Job Functions:

1. Strategy & Vision (25%)

  • Develop and lead Agilon’s Clinical Programs strategy, aligning with the organization’s mission to transform primary care through value-based care.
     • Define a long-term roadmap for programs that integrate clinical best practices, technology, and data-driven insights.
     • Partner with senior leadership to prioritize high-impact programs that improve quality, reduce total cost of care, and enhance physician and patient experience.
     • Ensure alignment across markets and scalability through a unified framework for program design, measurement, and iteration.

2. Clinical Pathway Development & Governance (25%)

  • Lead the development and continuous refinement of evidence-based clinical pathways focused on chronic disease management, preventive care, and specialty coordination.
  • Collaborate with physician leaders, population health, and analytics teams to identify variation, measure outcomes, and translate findings into actionable pathway updates.
  • Create governance frameworks for clinical content management, version control, and clinical validation across markets.
  • Ensure alignment with national guidelines (e.g., AHA, ADA, NCCN) while maintaining local adaptability for physician partners.

3. Product & Technology Integration (20%)

  • Partner with Product, Engineering, and Data Science to design and deliver digital tools that embed pathways into provider workflows and EMR systems.
  • Translate clinical requirements into clear product specifications and user stories, driving development through agile product management principles.
  • Oversee product lifecycle — from ideation through pilot, scaling, and continuous optimization — ensuring measurable impact on quality and cost.
  • Integrate feedback loops with physicians and operational leaders to enhance usability and adoption.
  • Drive integration of programs with EMR systems, care management tools, and population health platforms.

4. Collaboration & Change Leadership (15%)

  • Act as a bridge between clinical, product, Technology and operational teams — fostering cross-functional collaboration that drives adoption of clinical pathways.
  • Engage directly with market CMOs, physician groups, and care delivery teams to implement pathways and monitor performance.
  • Communicate progress and outcomes to senior leadership, highlighting success stories, opportunities, and scalability plans.
  • Support change management and physician education to promote pathway adoption and sustainability.

5. Leadership & Team Development (15%)

  • Build and lead a high-performing team of clinical pathway strategists, clinical product managers, and analysts.
  • Cultivate a culture of innovation, accountability, and evidence-based execution.
  • Mentor and develop emerging clinical and product leaders across Agilon Health.

Other Job Functions:

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
