Job Description:

Join us at Uniphore as we build the future of Business AI.

We are seeking a VP of AI Engineering to lead the architecture and delivery of AI-driven products powered by Language Models (LLMs) with a focus on SLMs and Agentic AI. You'll drive innovation in complete Enterprise AI technology stack — building products that reshape how humans and businesses interact. If you are passionate about leading world-class engineering organizations, scaling advanced AI systems, and delivering human-centric solutions with real-world impact, we'd love to meet you.

Role Overview:

We are seeking a seasoned VP of AI Engineering to lead critical product and platform engineering initiatives. This leader will drive strategy, execution, and delivery across multiple engineering organizations building Uniphore's flagship Enterprise AI platform.

You will collaborate closely with cross-functional leaders (Product, Design, Data Science, Customer Success) to drive innovation and deliver scalable, enterprise-grade solutions for our global customer base.

 Key Responsibilities:

• Lead and inspire multiple engineering organizations building Uniphore's next-gen conversational AI platforms and products.

• Drive the architecture, implementation, and optimization of systems leveraging SLMs, Agentic AI, Unstructured and Structured data processing, data engineering agents and evaluation systems to provide the most complete Enterprise AI stack for the largest F1000 companies in the world.

• Partner with Product, Data Science, and Design to define and execute product roadmap aligned with business goals and customer needs.

• Build scalable architectures that support SLLM fine-tuning, inference, prompt engineering, and RAG pipelines in production environments.

• Foster a culture of innovation, rapid experimentation, and engineering excellence across AI/ML and product engineering organizations.

• Own end-to-end software delivery: planning, execution, release, quality, and operational excellence.

• Hire, mentor, and develop engineering leaders and senior ICs across a globally distributed organization.

• Serve as a key member of the engineering leadership team, collaborating with executive leadership on long-term product and technology strategy, particularly in leveraging emerging AI technologies.

 Qualifications:

20+ years of engineering experience with progressive leadership responsibilities.

10+ years of experience leading large, multi-team engineering organizations at the Sr. Directory/VP or equivalent level.

• Proven success delivering AI/ML-driven products, language model-based systems, and scalable data processing pipelines in production.

• Deep understanding of Model fine-tuning, retrieval pipelines (vector search, knowledge graphs, context graphs), model optimization, inferencing and latency/performance tradeoffs.

Expertise in modern software architecture, cloud-native platforms (AWS/GCP/Azure), and CI/CD.

• Exceptional leadership, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills.

• Proven track record of building, scaling, and retaining globally distributed engineering organizations.

• Passion for building transformational AI products that deliver human-centric experiences.

 Why Join Uniphore:

• Be part of a high-growth leader in one of the most exciting fields in AI.

• Work with brilliant and collaborative teams on cutting-edge technology.

• Drive innovation that transforms enterprise customer experience.

• Build products with real-world impact at scale.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
