The Role
We're looking for a VP, AI Data Strategy to own and drive the data strategy for an entire TWG business unit. You will serve as the connective tissue between business leadership, AI product managers (AIPMs), and data engineering, ensuring the right data is identified, assessed, landed, and shaped to power AI use cases and agentic workflows across the enterprise.
This is a high-ownership, cross-functional role. You'll combine deep domain expertise in a specific industry vertical with hands-on knowledge of data management, architecture, and platforms to ensure our AI programs are built on a strong, accessible data foundation. As you grow in seniority, you may take on responsibility for multiple business units.
Key Responsibilities:
- Serve as the primary data strategy owner for an assigned business unit, with end-to-end accountability for ensuring data readiness across all AI initiatives within that business.
- Engage directly with business leaders and AIPMs to deeply understand target AI use cases and identify the critical data required to deliver them successfully.
- Conduct comprehensive data AI-readiness assessments—evaluating the extent, quality, suitability, and accessibility of data needed to support priority use cases.
- Partner with data engineers to land, prepare, and transform data consistent with TWG's target architecture, including ontologizing data for use cases and AI agents.
- Drive the creation and curation of knowledge bases that enable agentic access to data, both proximate to specific use cases and spanning entire businesses.
- Define data roadmaps and integration priorities that align with business objectives and the evolving needs of the AI program.
- Establish data governance frameworks, quality standards, and best practices tailored to AI/ML and agentic workflows.
- Champion responsible and ethical data practices across all AI programs.
- Communicate data strategy, progress, and trade-offs to executive stakeholders and technical teams alike.
Requirements
Qualifications:
- 7+ years of experience in data for AI, data analytics strategy or data management with demonstrated expertise in data platforms and infrastructure.
- Deep domain knowledge in asset management, investment banking, insurance, commercial banking, or financial services more broadly. The ideal candidate combines genuine business fluency with technical data expertise—we are looking for people who know the business and know the data.
- Proven ability to identify and articulate AI use cases and the data required to deliver and implement high value AI solutions within at least one target industry vertical.
- Strong understanding of modern data architecture including data integration patterns, ontology design, vector databases, embeddings, and knowledge base construction for agentic AI systems.
- Experience conducting data assessments—evaluating data quality, completeness, lineage, and readiness for advanced analytics and AI.
- Demonstrated ability to influence and align cross-functional teams—including engineering, AI research, product, and executive leadership.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to translate technical data concepts into business-relevant language and vice versa.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, Business, or equivalent experience; advanced degree preferred.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with the Palantir Foundry platform or similar enterprise data platforms is a significant plus.
- Experience with cloud data platforms and modern orchestration tools.
- Background leading data strategy within a decentralized or multi-business-unit organization.
- Familiarity with LLM/RAG architectures, agentic frameworks, and the data infrastructure required to support them.
- Strong point of view on emerging trends in AI-native data infrastructure and tooling.
Benefits
- Work at the forefront of AI/ML innovation in life insurance, annuities, and financial services.
- Drive AI transformation for some of the most sophisticated financial entities.
- Be part of a high-growth AI startup.
- Competitive compensation, benefits, future equity options, and leadership opportunities.
