About the Company:
Founded in 2017 by visionary directors Anthony and Joe Russo, AGBO is an artist-led, Academy Award–winning independent studio redefining global storytelling across film, television, and gaming. With 15 #1 openings and more than $7 billion at the box office, its hits include Marvel’s highest-grossing film Avengers: Endgame, the multi-Oscar-winning Everything Everywhere All at Once, and Netflix blockbusters The Gray Man and Extraction. AGBO’s Citadel universe has become a worldwide Prime Video sensation, while recent projects in post-production, include The Bluff (Amazon MGM) and The Whisper Man (Netflix). Upcoming releases include Citadel Season 2 and Marvel Studios’ epic Avengers: Doomsday (2026) and Avengers: Secret Wars (2027), both directed by the Russo Brothers and produced by AGBO.
About the Position:
We’re seeking a Visual Development Artist with a passion for concept art, world-building, and visual storytelling. This role is about shaping ideas into compelling designs that span characters, creatures, environments, and entire worlds. You’ll create both finely crafted concepts and broad exploratory directions, working across genres from grounded realism to the fantastical. Using a mix of traditional tools and emerging techniques, you’ll help push creative boundaries in film, TV, interactive, and experiential projects

Key Responsibilities:

  • Create visually compelling concept art for films, TV, interactive, and experiential projects.
  • Generate both finely tuned concepts as well as broad-stroke, wide-net explorations to support creative development.
  • Work across a range of genres including live action, animation, grounded, fantastical, and more.
  • Design a wide array of concepts — from individual creatures, characters, vehicles, or props to entire scenes, environments, visual languages, world-building, lighting, and overall look & feel.
  • Use both traditional tools such as Photoshop or Corel Painter as well as emerging ones such as ComfyUI workflows in your design process.
  • Leverage 3D software (Blender, Maya, Cinema4D, etc.) as a plus for concept modeling and design exploration.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • 3-5 years of professional experience.
  • A portfolio showcasing visually compelling concept art across a range of subjects and genres.
  • Strong design sense: composition, color, form, and visual storytelling.
  • Experience in concept art or visual development.
  • Strong creative curiosity and a willingness to experiment with new tools and emerging techniques.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Proficiency in Blender or another 3D package for concept design is a strong plus.

The typical base salary for this position ranges from $100,000 - $130,000 annually. Actual offers will be determined based on experience.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
