About Radar

Radar is location infrastructure for every product and service. Companies like Panera, T-Mobile, and DICK'S Sporting Goods use Radar's geofencing SDKs and maps APIs to power location-based experiences across hundreds of millions of devices worldwide.

Founded in 2016, Radar is headquartered in New York City and has raised $85.5M from leading venture capital firms, including Accel and Insight Partners. This year, Radar ranked as one of the Top 10 Best Places to Work in NYC by Crain's and was also named one of Built In's Best Places to Work in NYC.

About the role

Radar is looking for a Visual Designer with motion and illustration skills to execute our brand across all customer touch points and internal teams. You'll design, develop and implement our brand design system, and bring location-based experiences to life for our enterprise customers.

As a Visual Designer, you’ll play a pivotal role in shaping our design culture, building out the Radar brand, and helping our customers realize the next generation of location-based experiences.

You will report to our VP of Design. This is an in-office opportunity based out of our headquarters in New York City. You’ll work from our New York office Monday-Thursday with the opportunity to WFH on Fridays.

For candidates based in the United States, the base salary range for this full-time position is between $110,000-$120,000/year.

In addition to cash compensation, Radar offers full-time employees a competitive equity plan with stock option grants. This is a meaningful ownership stake in the company that we provide to our employees as we build a category-defining company together.

Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on this job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position across all US locations. Your exact offer may vary based on market location, job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.

How we work

Designers at Radar are equal parts big-picture strategic thinker and hands-on skilled craftsperson. We learn, gain insights, and communicate our ideas quickly and efficiently through sketches, design mocks, and motion tests. We sweat the design details, whether it’s preparing a production file for print or QAing the marketing site in development with engineers. We actively invite collaboration and feedback from our colleagues and leadership because we know that this will lead to a better brand experience. While we primarily communicate in Slack, working together in-person in our NYC HQ allows us to quickly ideate and get things done.

One of our most important company values is "Walk a mile," as in walking a mile in the customer's shoes. This also means literally walking a mile, getting up from your desk and developing a deep understanding of how location services behave in the real world. To us, a week is a long time, and we expect to ship big things every week.

What you’ll do:

  • Implement our brand design system across all customer touch points for digital and physical experiences (e.g., guidelines, templates, digital ad campaigns, events, website, case studies, etc.)

  • Motion design for our social media, paid media, mock UIs and the product experience through use-case scenarios that help customers envision the future of location-based experiences with Radar

  • Expand on the brand design system with technical diagrams, icons and illustration

  • Advocate for a consistent and cohesive brand experience with thoughtful, results-driven design solutions

  • Collaborate with product design, maintain the standard for consistency and excellence across all channels

You should have:

  • 3+ years of visual design experience creating brands and/or visual design systems that extend across digital and traditional mediums

  • 2+ years of motion design experience

  • Strong typographic skills and demonstrated experience in print and digital environments

  • A strong portfolio showcasing your visual design work across digital, motion and print

  • Expert proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite and Figma, and mid-level proficiency in After Effects

  • Experience and/or desire to experiment with other leading animation and generative AI tools for digital platforms

  • High attention to detail with a drive for pixel-perfect perfection

  • Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and balance multiple projects

  • Interest in technology and consumer behaviors in retail, restaurants and travel industries, in both the digital and physical environments, and how they intersect to improve customer experiences

  • Experience at growth/startup teams, SaaS companies and designing for developers

  • Experience with product animations, a plus

You’ll be working with:

  • Audrey Na, VP of Design

  • Nick Patrick, CEO and Co-Founder

  • Phil Sidoti, VP of Growth

  • Our Marketing, Product and Sales teams!

Benefits & Perks:

  • Competitive compensation package, stock option grants, and a 401(k) plan with 4% employer match

  • Medical, dental, and vision plans with 100% premiums covered, 12 weeks of paid parental leave, flexible spending accounts (FSAs), and more

  • Unlimited PTO

  • Fully stocked kitchen and weekly catered breakfast/lunch at our NYC office

  • CitiBike and Wellhub (Gympass) memberships

  • Monthly happy hours and team events

Benefits offering details will be provided if a candidate receives an offer. Benefits may also vary by location.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
