Riot Visual Designers create the best player experiences through their knowledge of systems design, interactivity, layout, typography, and color theory. Visual Designers collaborate with other disciplines and act as both artistic and design problem solvers. They understand players and ask questions about the what, who and how when solving for an interface or communication challenge.

As a Visual Design Artist for the Teamfight Tactics Live Experiences team, you will develop visual experiences from concept to execution for a range of player facing features including themed events, battlepasses, temporary game modes, content promotion, ceremonies / celebrations, player progression, and more. You will report to an initiative visual design lead while working as a core member of a team made up of concept artists, illustrators, engineers, ux / game designers, and producers- collaborating together to create both ephemeral and permanent content for the player experience.

Responsibilities:

  • Work with a multi-discipline team to create experiences intended to monetize and retain players
  • Apply unique thematics to the ui space, balancing familiarity and novelty 
  • Bring designs from idea to implementation, taking full ownership of your craft in the specific feature space. See your designs come to life by working directly in-engine.
  • Work closely with motion graphics artists and illustrators who help push your designs to the next level
  • Work with your craft lead to contribute to the planning / scoping of work
  • Help inform improvements to workflow, process, and internal tools 
  • Be a champion of source file organization, easy to use UI libraries, and documentation
  • Raise the quality bar for your craft, and be a UI advocate on your team as you usher in the next generation of player experiences in TFT 
  • Seek mentorship from senior artists and establish yourself as a member of the craft community

Required Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of industry experience as a Visual Designer, UI Designer, or UI Artist.
  • Hands-on experience working on UI for a live game product- ideally with evolving content, player facing features, and / or visual themes.
  • Strong portfolio demonstrating:
    • Visual design creativity / problem solving
    • Understanding of UI/UX design in games, especially in monetized spaces
    • Fundamental skills in typography, layout, color, and iconography design.
  • Experience working with Figma and/or other UI/UX design apps.
  • Expert knowledge in Adobe CC visual design tools such as Photoshop and Illustrator.
  • High level or working knowledge of next gen game engines like Unreal, or Unity
  • Knowledge of game development pipelines, including optimization, localization, and implementation.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Proficiency in game engines like Unreal, or Unity
  • Experience visualizing player flows for cross-platform experiences (PC and Mobile)
  • Experience applying thematic art directions to temporary feature spaces
  • Knowledge of League of Legends / Teamfight Tactics IP and style
  • Experience in secondary crafts such as motion graphics and illustration
  • Experience in motion graphics software like Spine, After Effects, etc
