At Viral Nation, we specialize in building social-first ecosystems for brands to connect with the modern consumer journey. Our integrated solutions align strategy, talent, media, and technology with culturally relevant creativity to scale the world’s fastest-growing digital brands. Viral Nation offers a fluid, creative, and growth-oriented environment that will support your ambitions to apply your talents in an open, collaborative, and fast-paced culture. Our ability to stay at the forefront of the industry has fuelled our success and will guide us in paving the path forward. We’re driven to push boundaries and think beyond today to deliver strategies, and we’re just getting started.

While we continuously exceed our goals, we need your help – our success is only as great as our people. Strong performance leads to high expectations, and we must keep raising the bar!

As a Video Editor & Motion Designer you play a crucial role in executing engaging visual content across social media platforms– responsible for the full cycle of video and animation projects, from organizing footage to final asset delivery. This includes editing raw video, creating motion graphics, developing short-form social-first videos, and optimizing final assets for various platforms.

This isn't just a "post-production" role; it is a creative engine role. You will be responsible for defining how the content for world-class brands moves, breathes, and communicates across platforms and screens— owning the attention of target audiences with vivid visual storytelling.
Submission of a strong portfolio demonstrating a diverse range of strategy-led social media content, campaigns and/or projects is required with your application.

What You'll Do Here:

  • Social-Native Editing: Execute high-velocity video editing for social media placements including TikTok, Reels, and Shorts, mastering the "invisible" cuts, rhythmic pacing, and high-retention hooks that drive platform algorithms.
  • Social-First Motion Design: Develop dynamic social-first motion graphics, including dynamic kinetic typography, custom animations, and branded transitions that elevate "lo-fi" content into premium brand experiences.
  • End-to-End Post-Production: Own the technical stack of video and motion projects, including color grading, audio mixing, and sound design that functions both "sound-on" and "sound-off."
  • Systematized Workflows: Architect and maintain a library of smart After Effects templates (MOGRTs) and motion presets to ensure global brand consistency and rapid-response delivery for reactive trends.
  • AI-Enhanced Pipeline: Integrate generative AI tools into the post-production workflow—using AI for aspects including rotoscoping, frame interpolation, automated captioning, and generative fill to push creative boundaries and maximize efficiency.
  • Asset Optimization & Versioning: Ensuring all assets are perfectly optimized for platform-specific specs (aspect ratios, safe zones, bitrates) and localized for the global distribution needs of clients.
  • Visual Polish & Quality Control: Act as the final gatekeeper for visual excellence, ensuring every frame is "pixel-perfect," on-brand, and free of technical glitches before it reaches millions of followers.
  • Technical Collaborative Ideation: Partner with social-first creatives during the pre-production phase to advise on "shoot-to-edit" strategies, ensuring footage is captured in a way that allows for maximum post-production flexibility and high-volume output.

You'll Need To Have:

  • Proven track record in a "social-first" brand team, high-volume social or digital agency or working directly with a top-tier creator.
  • A  portfolio of high-performing, viral-ready campaigns, content and/or projects.
  • Mastery of the Adobe Creative Cloud, specifically expert-level Premiere Pro (speed-editing) and After Effects (2D/3D motion, expressions, and compositing).
  • Deep technical knowledge of social first-storytelling— prioritizing 9:16, but across formats up to 16:9– including safe zones, "hook" mechanics, and integrated motion design.
  • Proven ability to leverage AI tools (e.g., Runway, Midjourney, Topaz, or Firefly) to automate rotoscoping, upscale footage, or generate creative assets.
  • Skilled utilization of applicable tools for color grading (i.e. Lumetri) and mobile-optimized sound design and audio mixing  (i.e. Adobe Audition).
  • Proficient in Figma, Illustrator, and Photoshop for prepping assets and translating static imagery into fluid animations.
  • Experience building and maintaining MOGRTs and motion libraries to ensure brand consistency and efficient, high-volume output.
  • Expert knowledge of codecs and bitrates to ensure maximum visual quality against aggressive social platform compression.
  • Ability to articulate the "why" behind an edit and balance high-end creative polish with the speed of the 24-hour news cycle.

Additional Considerations:

  • Awards and recognition for creative excellence.

Viral Nation is committed to diversity, equity and inclusion in our agency. Viral Nation welcomes applications from people with visible and non-visible disabilities. Accommodations are available on request for candidates taking part in all aspects of the recruiting and selection process.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
