About the role

Interview Kickstart is a trailblazing edtech platform helping working professionals level up in their careers with programs taught by instructors from top tech companies like Google, Meta, Amazon, and more. As we scale our content for a global audience, we're looking for a highly skilled and proactive Video Editor to help craft world-class educational videos and drive engagement on platforms like YouTube.

Key Responsibilities
  • Edit green screen-based content for YouTube and social platforms with professional keying, masking, and seamless compositing.
  • Create and repurpose videos for YouTube Shorts, Reels, and other vertical formats — fast-paced, trend-aware, and platform-native.
  • Use AI-enabled tools to create content faster, including AI avatars, voiceovers, and visuals. (RunwayML, Synthesia, Pika, etc.)
  • Take full ownership of each video — from rough footage to final export — ensuring storytelling, pacing, and branding are aligned.
  • Collaborate closely with the growth and content teams to translate scripts, rough edits, and raw recordings into visually compelling narratives.
  • Create and follow detailed storyboards, add motion graphics, dynamic typography, sound effects, and transitions to elevate viewer experience.
  • IMPORTANT: Understand how sound design and audio cues can enhance video retention and strategically apply them.
  • Enhance older video content and make them look brand new with fresh effects, updated graphics, and modern pacing.
  • Deliver polished, professional-quality edits using Premiere Pro, After Effects, Photoshop, and Illustrator at an advanced level.
  • Apply knowledge of typography, font pairing, color theory, and visual hierarchy to maintain consistent branding and design appeal.
  • Optimize every edit to increase retention at key points (15 seconds, 30 seconds, 2 min & 5 min)  on YouTube and other platforms.
  • Stay up-to-date with trends in AI, video editing, content marketing, and YouTube algorithm changes.
Requirements
  • 3–5+ years of professional video editing experience, ideally in edtech, YouTube content creation, or educational storytelling.
  • Expert-level proficiency in:
    • Adobe Premiere Pro (editing & pacing)
    • Adobe After Effects (motion graphics, VFX)
    • Adobe Photoshop & Illustrator (graphics & visual design)
  • Familiarity with AI video tools and platforms (e.g., Descript, RunwayML, Pika Labs, Synthesia, ElevenLabs).
  • Strong grasp of visual storytelling, pacing, transitions, and retention-focused editing.
  • Knowledge of YouTube growth metrics, audience psychology, and content structuring for engagement.
  • Passion for continuous learning — ready to upskill from the industry's best minds and adapt to new tools, trends, and techniques.
  • Highly proactive, detail-oriented, and self-driven — able to work independently and meet deadlines with minimal supervision.
  • Deep understanding of audio design — how music, ambient sounds, and SFX influence viewer retention and emotional connection.
 What You’ll Get
  • Collaborate with a fast-moving growth team that values creativity, quality, and impact.
  • Work on mission-driven content that helps millions of professionals break into FAANG and top tech roles.
  • Opportunity to grow with one of India’s leading edtech startups in an environment that values innovation and experimentation.
  • Learn directly from top engineers, PMs, and content leaders shaping the future of tech education.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
