The Role

BuzzFeed’s Cocoa Butter Channel is all about celebrating Black culture through entertaining and relatable content.  We’re looking for a skilled Video Editor with 3-5 years experience to echo our voice and collaborate on shows like "Taste Wars" and "Food Swap." As a Video Editor, you’ll craft engaging and dynamic edits that resonate with our diverse audience. You’ll be responsible for working with the creative leads in shaping the format and flow of the content, ensuring each video is both captivating and true to Cocoa Butter’s unique voice.

You Will

  • Edit compelling, long-form and short-form digital videos, focusing on narrative structure
  • Be able to accommodate quick edit timelines 
  • Incorporate graphics, music, and effects to enhance storytelling and engagement
  • Collaborate with producers to maintain the channel’s signature style and cultural relevance
  • Implement edit feedback quickly and provide updated cuts using creative solutions
  • Experiment with different edit versions as needed
  • Provide additional asset creation when necessary including adaptations, cutdowns, thumbnails, etc. 
  • Maintain project and edit organization according to internal SOPs
  • Implement appropriate Color Grading and Sound Mixing

You Have

  • 3-5 years of video editing experience, preferably with lifestyle or culturally-focused content
  • Proficiency in Adobe Premiere Pro, After Effects, and related software
  • Strong understanding of storytelling techniques and audience engagement strategies
  • Ability to work independently and meet tight deadlines without compromising quality
  • Passion for Black culture and culinary content is a plus!
