ING Transaction Services in the Americas

Transaction Services (‘TS’) is part of ING’s Wholesale Banking division and operates globally with daily banking related products including Working Capital Solutions, Trade Finance Solutions, Payments & Cash Management, and Liquidity Management Solutions like cash pooling, virtual cash management or solutions offered via Bank Mendes Gans.

With strong domestic presence in European countries, ING has developed into a leading player in European Transaction Banking and has a growing footprint in the U.S. To further expand its international franchise, ING is looking for a Vice President to join the Trade & Working Capital Solutions team of ING Americas.

Responsibilities:

The Trade & Working Capital Solutions franchise of ING advises clients on solutions to mitigate risk in trade transactions and optimize working capital management. The role is based out of New York and reports to the Head of Trade & Working Capital Solutions for the U.S. The position requires taking a leadership role in delivering new revenue for the franchise, advising clients on appropriate solutions and further develop trade relationships between ING and its clients. 

Responsibilities include:

As a subject matter expert, the Deal Principal will proactively identify and originate Trade & Working Capital Solutions including (i) Trade Finance (SBLCs, Guarantees, Doc LCs, etc.), (ii) Working Capital Solutions (Receivables Finance, ABCP Receivables Securitization, Supply Chain Finance, Inventory Finance).

The Deal Principal will:

  • Lead client engagements to identify and address needs through Trade & Working Capital Solutions, driving successful sales outcomes.
  • Be responsible for originating new businesses and developing its own pipeline.
  • Be responsible for the front-to-end deal structuring, including determining the most appropriate parameters of the deal structure.
  • Together with an Analyst / Associate, seek the relevant internal commercial approvals and prepare the internal credit approval packs.
  • Be responsible for engaging with, and addressing queries from the Senior Credit Risk Officer on the deal structure.
  • Engage with counsel on the drafting, negotiation and execution of the legal documentation.

Qualifications and Competencies

  • Minimum of 7 years combined experience in banking, financial services. Experience working in a global financial institution is strongly preferred. Master’s level education or similar advanced level degree.
  • Expert understanding of working capital fundamentals, including pitching, structuring and end-to-end implementation. Experience in structuring complex (multi-jurisdictions), Supply Chain Finance and Receivable Finance transactions. Experience in structuring Asset-Backed Commercial Paper Securitization transactions is strongly desired.  
  • Expert understanding of Trade Finance Solutions, in particular Standby Letters of Credit, including client advising, structuring, facility implementation and follow-up.
  • Demonstrated expertise preparing and delivering, marketing presentations to existing and prospective clients. Strong written and interpersonal communication skills.  
  • Solid problem solving skills and creativity that can be translated into financial structures with an emphasis on mitigating credit and transaction risks under various financing structures.
  • Self-starter, entrepreneurial with strong credit risk background.
  • Resilient and committed, able to deliver within tight deadlines and under pressure. Flexible over working hours and prepared to travel.
  • Team player.
  • Good Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) skills.

Salary Range $161,000-$203,000
