The Vice President position in Investment Operations will work closely with investment teams, traders, brokers, compliance, and accounting teams and be responsible for ensuring trade activity is entered, allocated, confirmed, communicated and settled accurately and timely. This role will be responsible for the proper oversight of critical risk controls along with the responsibility of managing a team of three highly motivated staff. This individual will lead various initiatives to increase straight through processing capabilities, streamline workflow, identify and evaluate technology-based solutions, participate in cross-functional initiatives, work with the technology team to design, write specifications, test, and deliver new functionality.

Scope and Responsibilities

  • Allocating trades across multiple accounts, funds, and special purpose vehicles based on allocation guidelines and compliance limits;
  • Driving strategic projects to advance the business forward inclusive of supporting new products and staying abreast of any Firm and industry initiatives impacting trade processing;
  • Managing a team of three highly motivated staff members;
  • Providing oversight of daily reporting and tasks to ensure completeness and adherence to any relevant standard escalation protocols;
  • Facilitating bespoke trade processing scenarios around private debt and equity; 
  • Confirming trade details with brokers using CTM, Bloomberg VCON, and other means as necessary;
  • Monitoring trades to ensure trades are communicated to external parties and downstream systems;
  • Responding to and/or resolving escalated settlement issues by working with custodians and counterparties;
  • Working with counterparties to increase electronic matching rates;
  • Leading initiatives to establish and continuously improve straight through processing rates;
  • Facilitating discussions with traders, accounting, reconciliation teams, and other stakeholder groups to address trade processing issues;
  • Providing trade processing coverage for other team members as needed;
  • Working with technology team to design, develop and test new functionality and enhancements;
  • Writing effective procedures and training others when necessary;
  • Building effective working relationships with internal stakeholders and brokers;
  • Troubleshooting and enhancing both FIX, SWIFT and other trade communication exceptions as necessary;
  • Working with industry vendors to evaluate and implement third party software where applicable;
  • Performing various other tasks and projects as necessary.

Experience Required

  • 10+ years relevant operations experience; specific expertise and knowledge of derivative instruments, collateral management, regulatory reporting and trade settlements
  • Experience working with industry utilities, agreements and communication protocols such as CTM, CLS, OASYS, ALERT, SWIFT, FIX, VCON, FXAll, Market Axess, Tradeweb etc.
  • Strong quantitative and analytical skills

Education

  • A bachelor’s degree is required.  

Base Salary Range

$165,000-$220,000

In addition to a competitive base salary, you will be eligible to receive discretionary bonus incentives, a comprehensive benefits package and a flexible work arrangement.  The base salary offered will be commensurate with experience and/or qualifications, industry knowledge and expertise, as well as prior training and education.
