We are seeking a strategic, creative, and enterprise-minded Vice President, Social Media to lead the vision, strategy, operating model, and execution of social media across Disney Experiences.

This role requires a bold, forward-thinking leader with deep experience driving transformation through a complex, global, matrixed organization. The Vice President will serve as a senior strategic partner to business and marketing leaders, shaping how Disney Experiences shows up across social platforms through relevant storytelling, compelling content, amplification, and distribution that meets consumers where they are. This leader will help create authentic, emotionally resonant work that is part of the cultural conversation while driving relevance, reputation, relationships, fandom, and revenue. They will oversee a high-performing team, influence cross-functional priorities, and establish the strategic direction, governance, and capabilities needed to scale best-in-class social engagement across the segment. Our Marketing team thrives on partnership, creative thinking, nimble execution, optimistic leadership, and ROI focused decision-making.

Key Responsibilities:

Social Strategy & Innovation

  • Set the social vision, strategic framework, and operating principles for Disney Experiences, ensuring consistency while enabling market-level relevance and business-specific execution.

  • Define and evolve the Disney Experiences social media strategy and voice, aligning priorities across multiple businesses, audiences, platforms, and growth objectives.

  • Lead platform-specific and audience-first strategies that drive engagement, community growth, cultural relevance, and measurable business impact.

  • Leverage audience insights, performance data, competitive intelligence, and cultural trends to inform strategic priorities and investment decisions.

  • Connect Disney Experiences to cultural moments in ways that strengthen brand affinity, deepen fandom, and keep the segment top of mind with diverse global audiences.

  • Serve as an executive thought leader in the social space, building senior-level relationships with platforms and identifying emerging tools, features, and capabilities that advance the business.

  • Develop strategies that grow, nurture, and activate Disney Experiences fandom across communities, platforms, and audiences.

Creative Development & Execution

  • Partner with senior business and marketing leaders to translate segment, franchise, and business priorities into compelling social strategies and platform-native creative approaches.

  • Provide executive oversight of content strategy, production models, and agency partnerships to ensure creative excellence, brand integrity, speed, and scalability.

  • Champion bold, breakthrough, disruptive ideas that push the boundaries of social storytelling and elevate how Disney Experiences connects with fans and consumers.

  • Influence cross-functional stakeholders to ensure a clear throughline between business priorities, creative strategy, audience needs, and the overall social vision.

Business Growth & Consumer Engagement Leadership

  • Translate experience launches, tentpole moments, and always-on priorities into social-first strategies that build demand, deepen engagement, and support broader business outcomes.

  • Partner closely with Growth, Lifecycle, Product, Analytics, Commercial, and business teams to ensure social strategies are integrated with consumer journeys, launch plans, and audience development priorities.

  • Use data, insights, and performance measurement to optimize social impact across distinct business KPIs, including reach, engagement, conversion, reputation, monetization, and fandom.

Team Leadership & Operations

  • Act as the senior integrator of Disney Experiences editorial strategy, publishing priorities, governance, and operating rhythms across social channels, businesses, and markets.

  • Lead, develop, and inspire a collaborative, high-performing team, building the capabilities, structure, and ways of working required to support evolving business needs.

  • Establish performance reporting, executive-level insights, and decision-making forums that connect social outcomes to strategic and business priorities.

  • Oversee agency, vendor, and partner strategies to ensure best-in-class execution, strong accountability, and optimal use of resources.

Audience Growth & Engagement

  • Set enterprise-level KPIs for audience development, content performance, engagement, and business impact, aligned with segment priorities and corporate goals.

  • Advance strategies that leverage UGC, creator behavior, community participation, and organic word-of-mouth to amplify Disney Experiences storytelling.

  • Lead innovation initiatives that test emerging platforms, formats, technologies, and early-stage features with clear learning agendas and scalable application.

  • Partner with global advertising and commercial teams to identify and implement monetization opportunities that align with brand, audience, and business priorities.

Qualifications:

  • Extensive senior-level experience leading digital, social, integrated, or consumer marketing within a complex, consumer-facing organization, with a demonstrated progression of increasing scope, scale, and enterprise responsibility.

  • Proven track record operating at an executive level as a strategic advisor to senior business and marketing leaders, with the executive presence, judgment, and communication skills to shape decisions and influence enterprise priorities.

  • Demonstrated experience leading multi-layered, high-performing organizations, including developing senior leaders, building organizational capability, setting clear accountability, and creating an inclusive culture that attracts and retains top talent.

  • Experience designing and evolving operating models, organizational structures, governance, and ways of working that enable teams to scale across businesses, functions, markets, and external partners.

  • Deep expertise in social and digital ecosystems, including platform strategy, audience development, content innovation, creator and community behaviors, cultural trends, and emerging technologies- with nimble speed, quality and consistency.

  • Proven ability to translate business, brand, franchise, and consumer priorities into an integrated digital/social strategy and then mobilize teams and partners to deliver against that strategy with speed, quality, and consistency.

  • Demonstrated success leading transformation and change in a global, highly matrixed environment, including aligning stakeholders with competing priorities, navigating ambiguity, and building consensus without relying solely on direct authority.

  • Strong business and commercial acumen, with experience connecting digital and social strategies to measurable outcomes such as audience growth, engagement, conversion, reputation, monetization, revenue, and fandom, and using performance data to guide investment and priorities.

  • Experience overseeing agency, vendor, platform, and strategic partner relationships, with the ability to establish clear expectations, drive accountability, and ensure resources are deployed against the highest-value opportunities, while maintaining brand integrity and optimistic approach to problem solving.

  • Demonstrated ability to balance creative excellence with operational discipline—championing bold, disruptive ideas while maintaining brand integrity, sound judgment, appropriate governance, and scalable execution.

  • Global perspective and experience working across diverse audiences, markets, and business models, with the ability to balance enterprise consistency with local relevance and cultural nuance with a creative track record of presenting complex strategies.

  • Exceptional executive communication, storytelling, and influencing skills, with a track record of presenting complex strategies, insights, and recommendations to senior leadership and gaining alignment around a clear path forward.

  • Leads with partnership, creativity, agility, optimism, and accountability, and is known for building trusted relationships through partnership across functions while challenging conventional thinking and bringing a fresh perspective.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
