Position Overview:

StepStone Group LP (StepStone) seeks a Vice President, Product Management for its La Jolla, CA location.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Develop and manage new products and applications for the Data Analytics and Technology Solutions (DATS) technology platform.
  • Plan and design new functionality for technology platforms and provide support for internal and external users of the platform related to applications’ data, workflows and analysis.
  • Support business development activities by leading client presentations.
  • Utilize private markets experience to assist and support the Engineering team with the development of new products and applications that will be used to assist in making more thoughtful and data-driven investment decisions, improve efficiencies across the firm, and provide an enhanced client experience.
  • Perform quantitative analysis for investment research, leveraging data and financial models.

Qualifications:

  • Must have a Bachelor’s Degree, or foreign equivalent, in Finance, Accounting, Economics or closely related field and four (4) years of experience in the position offered or as an Associate, Analyst, or closely related position involving project management, financial software implementation, data analysis, reporting, and process optimization in the private markets industry.  
  • Two (2) years of experience must include the following:
    • Utilizing MySQL to build data storage, manage databases, and conduct data retrieval and entry;
    • Utilizing advanced functions in MS Excel to perform financial calculations and generate metrics commonly used in private markets financial performance, including IRRs, TWRs, PME, and peer benchmarks;
    • Utilizing MS Power Pivot and PowerBi to build reports and conduct financial analysis;
    • Reconciling data, using validation checks, and leveraging process controls to ensure data quality;
    • Transforming business needs into structured outputs, including reporting templates, data aggregation, and functions specific to the private markets industry;
    • Managing projects, translating stakeholder expectations, and managing timelines for process, workflow, and operation build outs;
    • Utilizing financial systems and platforms to propose product improvements;
    • Designing, analyzing, and optimizing businesses processes, operations, workflows and systems to support business activities within the private markets industry;
    • Performing advanced data analysis using MySQL and Excel to generate product insights and understand how it is used to support data-driven decision making and stakeholder needs;
    • Managing data pipelines and systems using private market financial software tools which support stakeholder interests from a reporting or workflow standpoint.
