ABOUT THE YMCA OF METROPOLITAN LOS ANGELES

ABOUT THE POSITION 

The YMCA is seeking a dynamic leader to join the team as the Vice President of People, Culture, and Development (VP), a role that is instrumental in shaping organizational culture and fostering a thriving workplace. The VP will lead strategic initiatives to attract, develop, and retain top talent while fostering an inclusive, mission-driven organizational culture. This role will be responsible for overseeing the full spectrum of human resources functions, including talent acquisition, learning and development, employee engagement, diversity, equity, and inclusion, and organizational effectiveness. The VP will serve as a trusted advisor to leadership and a champion for the YMCA's values, ensuring alignment with the mission and strategic goals.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES 
 
Leadership  

  • Lead and develop a high-performing HR team of six, fostering continuous growth, mentorship, and operational excellence across all people functions.
  • Develop and execute comprehensive people and culture strategies that align with the YMCA's mission and strategic objectives.
  • Collaborate with senior leadership to foster an environment that prioritizes employee engagement and professional growth. 

Talent & Operational Management 

  • Oversee the end-to-end talent lifecycle, including recruitment, onboarding, performance management, succession planning, and retention strategies.
  • Lead initiatives to attract diverse, mission-aligned talent.
  • Create pathways for career progression and skill enhancement for all employees.
  • Ensure compliance with employment laws and regulations, YMCA policies, and best practices.  
  • Manage HR metrics and analytics to inform strategic decisions and measure the effectiveness of people strategies. 

Program Development and Cultural Engagement 

  • Design and implement programs that promote an inclusive and supportive workplace culture.
  • Develop and lead employee engagement initiatives, leveraging feedback to drive continuous improvement.
  • Establish and oversee learning and development programs to support professional growth and leadership development. 

QUALIFICATIONS 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Organizational Development, Business Administration, or a related field (master’s degree preferred).
  • A minimum of ten (10) years of progressive leadership experience in human resources with a focus on culture and talent development.
  • Experience in the nonprofit sector or mission-driven organizations is a plus.
  • Proven expertise in employee relations, performance management, and organizational development.  
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills with the ability to influence and inspire at all levels of the organization.  
  • Exceptional communication, facilitation, and conflict resolution abilities.  
  • Demonstrated success in developing and implementing strategic HR initiatives.  
  • Proficiency in HR technologies and data analytics to support informed decision-making, experience with PayCom is a plus.

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS 
The salary range is $105,000-$125,000, depending on experience. Benefit package includes medical, dental, vision, 10% Y Retirement Fund contribution (upon eligibility) plus access to a Y Retirement 403(b) Smart Account, paid training and leadership development, and tuition assistance.
