Who are we looking for?

Choice Hotels, one of the world’s largest lodging franchisors, has an exciting new opportunity as our Vice President, Global Sales in the Global Sales Team. As a key member of our Global Sales team, you will be responsible for driving the company’s sales team focused on group, corporate, specialty, and extended stay business. This leader’s primary role is to, in partnership with the Sales Strategy team, develop and implement a comprehensive sales strategy that aligns with the company's overall business objectives. This strategy includes identifying target markets, developing pricing strategies, and creating sales tactics for promoting the company's products or services.

The Vice President of Global Sales plays a pivotal role in building strong customer relationships and exploring new business opportunities. With effective leadership, the sales team can meet and exceed sales targets, contributing to overall business success and profitability. The Vice President of Global Sales needs to work cross-functionally across a matrix organization, driving enterprise and specific business unit-level goals. This leader is responsible for attaining in-year sales targets, but also for developing initiatives that set the ground to achieve transformational growth in line with a long-term plan target focused on increasing revenues, profit, market share, and customer satisfaction.

Your Responsibilities

  • Directs the planning and implementation of sales activities for the organization's most important accounts, collaborating with regional teams and managing performance to plan and market opportunities at all levels.

  • Leads the development and execution of a global sales plan targeting key market segments, such as travel agents, corporate clients, sports, and government.

  • Supervises the Groups and RFP Management process, focusing on the improvement of RFP acceptance, group lead conversion, and revenue generation across 7,500+ hotels

  • Responsible for finalizing team goals, optimizing team performance, and supporting the tracking of customer revenue, room nights, and share of spend targets across the organization.

  • Identifies and addresses marketing and sales training needs within the department, ensuring skill development and alignment with company objectives

Your Experience, Skills & Competencies

  • Bachelor's degree in Sales, Marketing, Management, or a related field required; Master's degree preferred.

  • Minimum of 15 years of experience in client-service industries, with a focus on hospitality or a related sector.

  • Demonstrated success in managing and leading teams across the Americas with consistent ability to motivate sales professionals to sell either in remote or in-person environments

  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively engage with stakeholders at all levels, including board members and executive clients.

  • Great strategic planning, organizational, and creative thinking skills.

  • Strong analytical skills are required to ensure the effectiveness of sales planning and analytics

  • Proficiency in using digital tools and platforms for sales and marketing.

  • Excellent negotiation and persuasion abilities.

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.

  • Experience in managing multiple projects in remote locations and dynamic environments.

  • Strong consultative skills and a track record of achieving corporate objectives across functional boundaries.

Salary Range

The salary range for this position is $250,000 to $300,000 annually, plus variable, performance-based sales commission. In addition to the annual salary and commission, this role is eligible for annual awards of Choice Hotels International common stock through Choice’s Long-Term Incentive Plan (LTI Plan).

Minneapolis, MN — Select roles are based in our Minneapolis office on Highway 394, near the intersection with Highway 100, only five minutes from downtown.

Field/Remote — Select roles designated as field/remote will require associates to work from a home office, connecting virtually with Choice team members and leadership on Zoom, with possible required travel depending on the role.
