About Moon

Moon is an ambitious, independent vertical SaaS company incubated by Home Organizers, a market leader with decades of proven success in home organization through its subsidiaries, including Closet World, Closets by Design, and Brio Water Technology. Born inside one of the industry's largest operators — 6,000+ employees, hundreds of thousands of new customers served annually — Moon is built on a rare advantage: we build for the home improvement industry from within it.

Our mission is to reinvent the home improvement experience end to end. From AI-driven marketing and in-home 3D design to sales, service, and operations, Moon unifies the entire customer and business journey on a single platform — supercharged by Luna, our proprietary AI engine. Where most operators stitch together disconnected tools that don't understand the homeowner, we're building the unified operating system the industry has never had. We're a rapidly growing team of committed builders, driven to reimagine how this industry sells, designs, and delivers — and to power the next generation of operators, from single-location dealers to national franchise networks.

Role Overview

As Vice President of Engineering, you will be the technical heartbeat of Moon, working side-by-side with our President to deliver breakthrough products at unprecedented speed and execute on the company's vision. Your role is to transform bold ideas into scalable, world-class software that redefines the home improvement experience — for the businesses that build it and the homeowners who live it. You will lead engineering, product, and product design teams, set the technical vision, and drive execution from concept to launch. This is a role for someone who thrives on urgency, embraces innovation, and can manage complexity with precision. You will be responsible for ensuring Moon's technical excellence, aligning product decisions with business goals, and scaling a team capable of building what typically takes five years in just one. You will be expected to operate on the edge of the frontier and take the team there as well.

About the role

You will join a high-intensity, mission-driven team at a critical moment in our growth. As VP of Engineering, you will have full ownership of Moon's technical and product direction, leading cross-functional teams to deliver the platform that modernizes how home improvement is designed, sold, and delivered. You'll work closely with the President, who will focus on vision, marketing, sales, and partnerships, while you lead the execution product engine — translating bold promises into reality. This is a rare opportunity to shape the future of a stealth SaaS company backed by a proven industry leader, with the resources, support, domain expertise, and ambition to transform an entire industry.

What you'll do
  • Define and own Moon's technology strategy, architecture, and product roadmap.
  • Lead, inspire, and scale high-performing engineering, product management, and design teams to operate in the top tenth of a percent in the world.
  • Translate visionary goals into achievable product milestones with extreme speed and precision.
  • Drive end-to-end product development — from ideation to design, implementation, testing, and launch — across the full home improvement journey: design, visualization, sales, scheduling, manufacturing, and installation.
  • Establish world-class engineering processes, tools, and culture that balance creativity with discipline, ensuring we compete with the most productive AI-powered workflows out there.
  • Make critical decisions on product, platform, and technology trade-offs to accelerate execution.
  • Ensure product reliability, security, and scalability to support rapid growth across thousands of users in showrooms, factories, and homes.
  • Partner with the President on strategic planning and ensure delivery on ambitious commitments to users, investors, and the market.
  • Hire and recruit A+ developers and product managers who are self-managing, leading them to excellence.
Qualifications
  • Proven track record of building and shipping end-to-end successful, innovative software products, ideally multiple times with large user bases.
  • 12+ years of experience in technology leadership, including 5+ years in senior executive roles (CTO, VP Engineering, or equivalent).
  • Demonstrated ability to scale and manage large, multidisciplinary teams across engineering, product, and design.
  • Deep expertise in SaaS platforms, product design principles, and modern engineering practices; experience building for complex operational industries (field services, manufacturing, construction, retail, or similar) is a strong plus.
  • Strong strategic and operational leadership skills: able to think creatively while enforcing discipline and accountability.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with the resilience and drive to work at an extreme pace, balancing urgency with excellence.
  • Exceptional communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with visionary leadership and diverse teams.
  • Passion for innovation, impact, and reimagining how an entire industry designs, sells, and delivers its work.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
