The Role:

We’re seeking a Vice President of Global Engineering to lead our global engineering organization through its next stage of growth and modernization. This executive will own engineering delivery across Cart’s commerce, fulfillment, and platform ecosystems, driving operational excellence, AI-powered innovation, and world-class product reliability.

This role requires a strategic technology leader with deep experience in supply chain systems (OMS, WMS, TMS, ERP integrations), AI/ML engineering, and scalable SaaS architecture. The VP will partner closely with Product, Data, and Infrastructure teams to deliver transformative outcomes for our customers and internal teams.

What You’ll Do:

  • Lead a global engineering team (100+ engineers across multiple time zones) with focus on speed, quality, and reliability.
  • Define and execute the engineering strategy aligned with Cart’s unified commerce vision.
  • Oversee the delivery of multi-tenant SaaS applications across commerce, fulfillment, and analytics domains.
  • Embed AI and automation into engineering processes and product capabilities — from intelligent routing to demand forecasting.
  • Strengthen SDLC maturity with modern DevOps, CI/CD, and GenAI-enabled development practices.
  • Partner with Product and Infrastructure leadership to build a product-first, engineering-led culture focused on measurable customer outcomes.
  • Champion architecture modernization, microservices transformation, and API-first platform design.
  • Build and develop high-performing teams, emphasizing coaching, inclusion, and career growth.
  • Implement engineering KPIs including DORA metrics, velocity, quality, uptime, and TCO.
  • Serve as a key member of the technology leadership team — contributing to company-wide strategy and roadmap.

Who You Are:

  • Proven success leading global SaaS or platform engineering teams (100+ engineers).
  • Deep understanding of supply chain, logistics, or commerce platforms (WMS, OMS, TMS, ERP).
  • Track record of driving modernization from legacy monoliths to cloud-native architectures (AWS/Azure/GCP).
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
  • Track record of driving modernization from legacy monoliths to cloud-native architectures (AWS/Azure/GCP).
  • Strong grasp of DevOps, DataOps, and CI/CD automation frameworks.

What You’ve Done:

  • 15+ years of software engineering experience, including 7+ years in senior leadership roles.
  • Experience integrating or building AI/ML models in production environments.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
