Where we Work

Udemy is a global company headquartered in San Francisco, with additional U.S. offices in Denver and Austin, and international hubs in Australia, India, Ireland, Mexico, and Türkiye. This is an in-office position, requiring three days a week in the office (Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday) and flexibility on Mondays and Fridays.

About this role

The Vice President of Corporate Development will play a pivotal role in shaping Udemy's growth trajectory through strategic acquisitions, partnerships, and investments. This role involves identifying, evaluating, and executing M&A opportunities that align with Udemy's strategic vision and accelerate our market position. The VP will lead all aspects of corporate development, from deal sourcing and strategic assessment to due diligence, negotiation, and post-merger integration. This leader will collaborate closely with the executive team to identify strategic gaps and opportunities, develop a comprehensive inorganic growth strategy, and build relationships with potential acquisition targets and strategic partners. The ideal candidate will combine strategic vision with deal execution expertise and possess a deep understanding of the education technology landscape.


What you’ll be doing  

  • M&A Strategy and Execution- Develop and implement a comprehensive M&A strategy aligned with Udemy's long-term vision. Lead the end-to-end M&A process, from target identification to deal closing and integration planning.

  • Strategic Partnerships - Identify, structure, and negotiate strategic partnerships, joint ventures, and alliances that create value and drive growth.

  • Deal Sourcing and Pipeline Management - Proactively build and manage a pipeline of potential acquisition targets and strategic partnership opportunities. Develop and maintain relationships with key industry players, investors, and advisors.

  • Due Diligence Leadership - Oversee comprehensive due diligence processes, including financial, operational, technical, legal, and cultural assessments. Coordinate cross-functional teams throughout the due diligence process.

  • Valuation and Financial Modeling - Lead sophisticated financial analyses and valuation models to evaluate potential transactions. Develop investment theses and value creation frameworks for target opportunities.

  • Deal Negotiation and Structuring - Lead complex deal negotiations and structure transactions to maximize value while mitigating risks. Work closely with legal and finance teams to ensure optimal deal terms.

  • Post-Merger Integration - Partner with operational leaders to develop and implement effective integration plans that capture synergies and preserve value. Ensure cultural alignment and successful onboarding of acquired teams.

  • Board and Executive Communication - Present corporate development strategies, opportunities, and outcomes to the board and executive team. Provide regular updates on market trends, competitive landscape, and strategic implications.

  • Team Leadership - Build and lead a high-performing corporate development team. Mentor team members and foster a culture of excellence, innovation, and continuous improvement.


What you’ll have  

  • A minimum of 15+ years of experience in corporate development, investment banking, private equity, or strategy consulting.

  • Proven track record of successfully sourcing, executing, and integrating strategic acquisitions.

  • Experience in the education technology sector or related industries preferred.

  • Strong financial background with expertise in valuation, financial modeling, and deal structuring.

Actual compensation for this role is based on several factors, including but not limited to job-related skills, qualifications, experience, and specific work location due to differences in the cost of labor. In addition to a base salary, this role is also eligible for equity and a bonus. 

Hiring Compensation Range
$275,000$325,000 USD
