Every day and in every way, we hold ourselves to an Honest standard. We believe that it is our responsibility to do our part to help create a healthy and sustainable future for all.

The Role

Vice President, Consumer Insights & Analytics
Reports to: SVP Enterprise Strategy, Insights & Technology
The VP of Consumer Insights & Analytics is a key contributor to enterprise decision-making through deep understanding of consumers, shoppers, markets, and business performance. This role is being created to further the enterprise’s evolution toward a consumer-first mindset.

The role brings an external, objective perspective that shapes where the company chooses to play, how it wins, and where it invests. You are not just a reporter of data; you are a predictive strategist who helps the SVP Enterprise Strategy & CEO see around corners. The mandate extends beyond leading research to influencing how Honest operates by integrating consumer understanding, marketplace dynamics, and commercial performance across the enterprise.

Accountabilities

  • Shape Growth: strategy, investment, innovation, portfolio, and M&A
  • Steward Enterprise Intelligence: consumer, marketplace, syndicated data, foresight, and performance
  • Advisor to Investor Relations: counsel CEO, CFO, and IR team factors that drive investor messaging (marketplace performance, economic factors, competitive dynamics, etc.)
  • Oversee Brand Marketing and Equity Research: partner with SVP of Marketing and head of Operating Units to conduct research and understand the performance of marketing and brand executions
  • Ensure Product Portfolio is Built to Perform: collaborate with the product technical team to establish testing and competitive performance practices that support ongoing leadership of The Honest Standard
  • Build Organizational Capability: team leadership, decision quality, consumer-centricity, and executive influence

Core Responsibilities

  • Shape Enterprise Growth Strategy: Guide the organization on where future growth will come from by influencing portfolio strategy, brand investment, innovation priorities, category expansion, long-range planning, and core technology roadmaps.
  • Serve as the Voice of the Consumer & Marketplace: Represent external reality in executive decision-making by bringing a deep understanding of consumer behavior, shopper needs, competitive dynamics, and cultural change, while challenging internal assumptions.
  • Anticipate Future Demand: Lead the organization’s evolution from reactive tracking to predictive forecasting. Use advanced analytics, AI, and behavioral data to identify emerging consumer behaviors, market shifts, and competitive disruption before they impact the business.
  • Provide New Category Entry and Innovation Support: Deliver consumer-demand validation and market sizing to evaluate potential category entries, strategic partnerships, and internal growth projects.
  • Steward Enterprise Consumer & Market Intelligence: Partner with Sales, Category Management, Finance, IT, Procurement, and Data Engineering to govern the company’s syndicated data ecosystem (e.g., Circana, Numerator). Integrate disparate data sources (behavioral, transactional, and attitudinal) into a unified enterprise asset. Translate in-market performance into objective business narratives by connecting what is happening with why it is happening.
  • Build Enduring Competitive Advantage: Develop proprietary consumer and market intelligence (demand spaces, behavioral frameworks, segmentation, growth models) built to function as lasting enterprise decision systems.
  • Monitor Brand Health: Track Honest's brand equity, trust, and consumer perception over time (awareness, loyalty, sentiment, and NPS), flagging shifts early so the executive team can respond before they show up in sales.
  • Foster an Organizational Consumer-Centric Mindset: Embed consumer-centered thinking across Marketing, Sales, Product, R&D, Finance, Strategy, and executive leadership, turning consumer understanding into a company-wide competitive capability.
  • Lead and Develop Talent: Build and mentor a high-performing team, fostering a culture of curiosity and commercial acumen.
  • Advise Executive Leadership: Serve as a trusted strategic advisor to the CEO, SVP Enterprise Strategy, and business leaders, bringing an integrated perspective on consumers, markets, and business performance to the company’s most consequential decisions.

Who You Are (Qualifications)

  • Experience: 15+ years in consumer insights, market research, or strategic planning, including 5+ years in an executive role leading a team.
  • Growth & Commercial Mindset: A track record of translating consumer and market intelligence into measurable commercial impact, growth, and ROI, ideally with direct experience governing syndicated data ecosystems (e.g., Circana, Numerator).
  • The Tech-Strategy Bridge: Proven experience partnering with data engineering, tech infrastructure, or product architecture teams; fluent in predictive analytics, AI, social listening, and telemetry data. You speak both “human” and “data.”
  • Methodology Mastery: Deep expertise across qualitative and quantitative research, behavioral economics, and modern data-stack applications.
  • Executive Presence: Exceptional communication skills with a track record of influencing C-suite executives and board members through compelling storytelling backed by undeniable data.
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in business, Marketing, Statistics, Behavioral Sciences, or a related field; MBA or advanced degree preferred.

Compensation

The pay range for this role is $245,000 – $284,000. Actual compensation is based on many factors including but not limited to depth of experience, skill level, ability, knowledge, education, certifications, and specific work location. What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
