Job Description

The Global Capital Solutions team focuses on liabilities sourcing and financing, as well as asset sourcing and strategic counterparty relationships across the Ares platform.

The Vice President will play a central role in building and maintaining the firm’s counterparty reporting and coverage infrastructure. The role is focused on developing systems, analytics, and standardized materials that enable senior leadership to evaluate bank relationships, allocate wallet share, and engage with key counterparties using consistent, high‑quality information.

This position sits within Ares’ growing Capital Solutions business and represents the ability to have high impact into determining and building how counterparty data is captured, organized, and presented across the platform, working closely with investment teams, the technology team, and senior stakeholders.

Role Overview

  • Establish and maintain a centralized, analytics‑driven view of bank activity and value‑add across the firm. The role is responsible for evolving an existing static scorecard into a more dynamic, repeatable reporting tool, including development of counterparty dashboards and integration into CRM systems to support firm‑wide visibility.
  • Support strategic decision‑making through structured reporting and analysis.
  • Consolidate platform‑wide interactions with banks—deal activity, fees, coverage touchpoints, and qualitative inputs—into clear, standardized outputs used to inform wallet allocation discussions, negotiation preparation, and senior‑level reviews.
  • Advance a unified counterparty coverage and information model.
  • Support development of a centralized resource for counterparty intelligence, providing leadership with timely insight into fees, interactions, opportunities, and priorities across the organization.
  • Produce executive‑level relationship materials.
  • Synthesize scorecard outputs, value‑received metrics, and platform‑wide data into materials used for annual bank meetings, CEO‑level discussions, and other strategic counterparty engagements, incorporating input from investment teams as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain analytical frameworks to quantify bank value‑add, including deals sourced, capital raised, and breadth of engagement across the platform.
  • Generate bank‑level scorecards, dashboards, and comparative analyses using standardized fee and activity data.
  • Prepare briefing materials and reporting packages used in wallet allocation discussions and senior counterparty meetings.
  • Coordinate with Capital Solutions and investment teams to collect and incorporate forward‑looking priorities into counterparty materials.
  • Partner closely with the technology team to translate reporting and analytics needs into system enhancements and ensure effective implementation.
  • Support the adoption and consistent use of CRM and related systems by improving data quality, reporting usability, and standardization.
  • Build and maintain templated executive‑level materials (scorecards, dashboards, relationship summaries) that can be refreshed systematically over time.

Qualifications

  • 6+ years of experience in capital markets, treasury, DCM, or a strategy / COO / FP&A role within an asset manager or bank.
  • Strong analytical and data skills, including experience with Excel and data visualization tools (Power BI / Tableau); familiarity with CRM systems such as DealCloud or Salesforce.
  • Detail‑oriented and process‑driven, with the ability to manage complex datasets and produce consistent, high‑quality reporting.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, particularly in preparing materials for senior stakeholders.
  • Systems‑minded and execution‑focused; comfortable driving standardization and reducing ad‑hoc or off‑system processes.
  • Commercially aware, with an understanding of how reporting supports wallet allocation, negotiations, and relationship management.
  • SIE, Series 63 and 79 or ability to obtain within 90 days of start date

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
