JOB DESCRIPTION

Fox Entertainment is seeking a Vice President, Business & Legal Affairs to focus on dealmaking for Fox Creator Studios, which Partners with digital creators to monetize content and co-produce original series. This role reports directly to the SVP of Business & Legal Affairs for Fox Creator Studios and FoxNXT and will help to structure, negotiate, and implement a wide variety of complex agreements in a fast-evolving media landscape.

The ideal candidate brings deep fluency in the creator economy alongside meaningful experience at a traditional studio or network. They understand how creators build and monetize their businesses — and what they prioritize in a deal — while also knowing how traditional studios develop, produce, and distribute at scale. The ability to move quickly, think creatively, speak clearly, and structure agreements that work for all parties is essential. Strong legal and business judgment and a practical, solutions-oriented approach to dealmaking in a rapidly evolving media landscape is required. This is a role for a highly versatile executive who thrives in a startup-like environment within a large media company.

Regular, on-site attendance at the workplace for a minimum of four (4) days per week is an essential function of the position. The selected candidate must be able to reliably meet this requirement.

A SNAPSHOT OF YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES

Creator Dealmaking

  • Structure, negotiate, and draft a wide range of complex creator agreements, including production, licensing, and advertising-related deals

  • Partner cross-functionally with production, ad sales, and business teams to align on deal terms and execution. Advise the same on deal terms, risk allocation, and contract interpretation across traditional and emerging business models

  • Help develop and implement internal processes, policies, and best practices

  • Manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment

  • Manage relationships with creators and their representatives throughout the deal process and into production

General Business and Legal Affairs:

  • Provide business and legal support for various initiatives within the business lines we support, including technology-related initiatives

  • Structure, negotiate, and draft a variety of deals and/or contracts as needed

  • Advise on legal, rights, and policy considerations in Fox Entertainment’s emerging businesses

  • Assist in evaluating and implementing tools and technologies impacting content development and production workflows

  • Support the development of ethical and responsible internal frameworks governing the use of AI in creative and production processes

WHAT YOU WILL NEED

  • JD degree and active member of the California bar; Will consider those eligible for Registered In-House Counsel status (Rule 9.46)

  • 10+ years of legal experience

  • Significant experience negotiating production, talent, and/or creator agreements, with a strong preference for experience in creator content

  • Experience operating in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment, ideally within a larger organization

  • Excellent legal judgment, drafting, negotiation, and interpersonal skills, with a strong practical, solutions-oriented mindset

  • Ability to work well with clients and peers

  • Ability to support deals involving multiple, highly complex sets of agreements, manage multiple projects at one time, and creatively solve problems while working under pressure

NICE TO HAVE BUT NOT A DEALBREAKER

  • Background that includes both traditional entertainment and digital/creator ecosystems

  • Experience with AI-related legal or business issues in media or technology contexts

  • Combination of law firm and in-house experience

  • Top-tier law firm and/or in-house media company experience

  • Ability to operate as a versatile, execution-focused partner in building the next generation of content and production workflows

Pursuant to state and local pay disclosure requirements, the pay rate/range for this role, with final offer amount dependent on education, skills, experience, and location is $250,000.00-300,000.00 annually. This role is also eligible for an annual discretionary bonus, various benefits, including medical/dental/vision, insurance, a 401(k) plan, paid time off, and other benefits in accordance with applicable plan documents. Benefits for Union represented employees will be in accordance with the applicable collective bargaining agreement.
