About the Role

Archetype AI is seeking a UX / UI Designer to lead and own the end-to-end user experience of our developer console, a critical touchpoint for our customers. You’ll lead features from concept to launch, partnering closely with PMs and engineers to shape requirements, design key flows, and prototype in code. This role will help build consistency and quality across the product, and build feedback loops that keep us close to customers.

This role is ideal for a seasoned product designer who’s has experience designing and shipping product, who’s comfortable leading ambiguous, technically complex work, and balances systems thinking with pixel-level craft.

Core Responsibilities
  • Lead features end to end for our developer console, partnering with engineering to identify requirements, key flows, and validate UX direction before handoff.

  • Build prototypes using AI assisted coding tools to validate

  • Maintain and improve the quality and consistency of our product surfaces, using our design system and contributing back when gaps surface

  • Run lightweight research to validate design directions, including user interviews, beta feedback, and synthesis of input from internal teams

  • Develop and own internal beta testing processes and feedback loops across both features and documentation, so we catch issues before customers do

  • Communicate design decisions and tradeoffs clearly to PMs, engineers, and leadership with strong rationale and storytelling

  • Conduct periodic audits of UI to identify inconsistencies, gaps, or opportunities for improvement

Minimum Qualifications
  • 5+ years of professional product design experience, with a track record of owning complex features end to end

  • Strong visual design fundamentals and the craft to apply them

  • Experience owning projects from start to finish and collaborating across disciplines

  • Comfort collaborating closely with engineers, including reading code and reasoning about technical constraints

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in Enterprise Saas environments and/or developer focused products

  • Familiarity working in startup environments or as fast-moving in-house teams

  • Familiarity with front end development principles and design to engineering handoff

Bonus Skills

  • Designing for ML and AI products

  • Animation and motion design

  • Illustration skills

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
