About the job
LawnStarter is the nation’s leading on-demand marketplace for lawn care and home services, crossing $100M in bookings last year. And lawn care is only the beginning — our long-term goal is to become the go-to marketplace for all home services.
As a UX/UI Designer at LawnStarter, you will bring exceptional digital experiences to life across our multi-brand ecosystem. You’ll own the design of clear, intuitive, responsive interfaces that make it simple for customers and Pros to get value from our products. You’ll work closely with Product, Engineering, Research, and Growth to turn validated insights into high-performing designs that ship quickly and at a high bar.
This role blends craft excellence, systems thinking, and cross-functional collaboration. An ideal role for someone who wants to make a visible impact in a small, fast-moving team.
Problems to be solved
1. Creating clarity in a complex, multi-brand customer journey
Customers come to us for mowing, landscaping, and other home services — entering through three different brands with slightly different expectations. Behind the scenes, our workflows and logistics are complex. You’ll help translate that complexity into simple, intuitive, trustworthy interfaces across LawnStarter, Lawn Love, and HomeGnome. Your designs help customers feel grounded and confident, no matter which brand they’re in.
2. Bringing order and consistency as we scale quickly
With a small but mighty team shipping constantly, design consistency can drift (one-off components, visual mismatches, bespoke patterns.) You’ll help evolve our design system, tighten consistency, and create the reusable patterns that help us ship faster without sacrificing quality. Your work becomes the foundation that accelerates every future initiative.
3. Designing beautiful, usable experiences that drive outcomes
Your work isn’t just about craft. It’s about impact. You’ll design flows that improve conversion, reduce friction, lower support volume, and increase task success. Your decisions will be backed by research, usability testing, and behavioral data.
4. Strengthening the bridge between design and engineering
Shipping well is a team sport. You’ll partner closely with engineers to ensure your designs are buildable, accessible, and accurately implemented. You’ll join QA cycles, advocate for quality, and help reduce rework through clearer specs and better alignment.
5. Creating structure in a small, scrappy, high-ownership team
We’re still early in building our design rituals and standards. You’ll help shape our ways of working, from component usage to documentation to cross-team collaboration, setting the bar for what good looks like as we grow.

- Create pixel-perfect, responsive UI for mobile and web across all brands.
- Partner closely with engineering on design implementation and QA.
- Evolve and maintain the multi-brand design system. Contribute 2+ components quarterly.
- Translate research insights into intuitive, high-performing screens and flows.
- Deliver thorough handoff documentation with specs, states, and interaction details.
