About us

Ruby Labs is a leading tech company that creates and operates innovative consumer products. We offer a diverse range of opportunities across the health, education, and entertainment industries. Our innovative teams are driving the future of consumer-led products, and we're always looking for passionate individuals to join us. Learn more about our story at: https://rubylabs.com/about-us/

About the role

At Ruby Labs, growth is driven by a deep understanding of our users, who they are, what they need, and why they behave the way they do. We don’t guess. We research, validate, and build on evidence.

We are looking for a UX Researcher who will own the research function across our product portfolio. In this role, you will uncover the behavioral patterns, motivations, and friction points that shape how users interact with our funnels, onboarding flows, and core product experiences. Your insights will directly inform CRO hypotheses, product decisions, and design direction.

This is not a support role. You will be a strategic contributor — someone who proactively identifies research opportunities, drives studies end-to-end, and translates findings into clear, actionable direction for product, growth, and design teams.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and run end-to-end research studies, from scoping and methodology selection to analysis and synthesis. Define the right method for each question, and push back when a study isn't needed.

  • Conduct qualitative research (interviews, usability tests, diary studies) and quantitative research (surveys, card sorting, behavioral data analysis), using tools like Hotjar, Mixpanel, and PostHog to round out findings.

  • Investigate user behavior across acquisition funnels, onboarding flows, paywalls, and subscription experiences — identifying friction, drop-off reasons, and unmet needs that impact conversion and retention.

  • Partner with CRO, growth, and product teams to translate insights into testable hypotheses, validate feature decisions, and integrate research into the development cycle from the start.

  • Synthesize findings into clear, decision-driving reports with concrete recommendations. Present to product, design, and leadership, and maintain a research repository accessible across teams.

  • Translate behavioral patterns into personas, journey maps, and mental models — and champion a user-centered mindset across the organization.

Qualifications
  • 3+ years of experience in UX research, product research, or a related role.

  • Strong proficiency in both qualitative and quantitative research methods.

  • Hands-on experience with user testing platforms (UserTesting, Maze, Lookback, or similar).

  • Ability to analyze behavioral data from tools such as Mixpanel, Hotjar, PostHog, or Google Analytics.

  • Experience researching consumer-facing digital products, ideally subscription or funnel-driven.

  • Exceptional ability to synthesize ambiguous findings into clear, prioritized, actionable insights.

  • Outstanding written and verbal communication — you tell stories with data, not just report findings.

  • High ownership mindset: you drive studies from kickoff to decision without needing to be managed.

  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, fully remote environment with high autonomy.

  • Fluent English, written and spoken.

Nice to have
  • Experience in a CRO or growth-focused product environment.

  • Familiarity with A/B testing and experimentation frameworks.

  • Background in behavioral psychology, cognitive science, or human-computer interaction.

  • Experience running research across multiple product verticals simultaneously.

  • Knowledge of accessibility research and inclusive design principles.

  • Experience building or scaling a research function from an early stage.

Location

Ruby Labs operates within the CET (Central European Time) zone. Applicants from any country are welcome to apply for the position as long as they are located within approximately ± 4 hours of CET. This ensures optimal collaboration and communication during working hours.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
