Who we are

With its A.I.-powered robotic technology platform, Symbotic is changing the way consumer goods move through the supply chain. Intelligent software orchestrates advanced robots in a high-density, end-to-end system – reinventing warehouse automation for increased efficiency, speed and flexibility.

What we need

We are seeking a talented UX Researcher with 3-5 years of experience to conduct resonance testing, concept validation, and usability testing for our supply chain robotics solutions. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in user research methodologies, a passion for understanding user needs, and the ability to translate insights into actionable recommendations. You will collaborate with UX designers, product managers, and engineers to ensure our robotic systems and software interfaces are intuitive, efficient, and aligned with user expectations.

What you’ll do

  • Conduct Resonance Testing: Design and execute resonance testing to gauge user reactions, emotional responses, and alignment with proposed design concepts for robotics interfaces and software.

  • Perform Concept Validation: Plan and conduct studies to validate design concepts, ensuring they meet user needs and business objectives within the supply chain and robotics context.

  • Execute Usability Testing: Develop and lead usability testing sessions for prototypes, existing systems, and new features, identifying pain points and opportunities for improvement.

  • Gather User Insights: Use qualitative and quantitative methods, such as interviews, surveys, and observations, to understand user behaviors, preferences, and challenges in interacting with robotic systems.

  • Analyze and Synthesize Data: Translate research findings into clear, actionable insights through reports, presentations, and visualizations to guide design and development teams.

  • Collaborate with Cross-Functional Teams: Work closely with UX designers, product managers, and engineers to integrate research insights into product development and refine user experiences.

  • Advocate for Users: Champion user-centered design principles, ensuring user needs are prioritized throughout the product lifecycle.

  • Stay Current with Trends: Keep up-to-date with UX research methodologies, supply chain technologies, and robotics trends to inform research practices.

What you’ll need

  • Experience: 3-5 years of professional experience in UX research, ideally with exposure to technical systems, robotics, or supply chain industries.

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Human-Computer Interaction, Psychology, Design, Anthropology, or a related field. A Master’s degree is a plus.

  • Technical Skills:

    • Proficiency in UX research methodologies, including resonance testing, concept validation, and usability testing.

    • Experience with research tools such as Miro, UserTesting, Lookback, or similar platforms for conducting and analyzing studies.

    • Familiarity with data analysis tools (e.g., Excel, SPSS, or Tableau) for quantitative research.

    • Knowledge of supply chain operations or robotics systems is a plus.

  • Soft Skills:

    • Strong analytical skills to interpret complex data and derive meaningful insights.

    • Excellent communication and presentation skills to share findings with diverse stakeholders.

    • Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, cross-functional team environment.

  • Preferred Qualifications:

    • Experience conducting research for hardware-software integrated systems, such as robotics.

    • Understanding of accessibility standards (e.g., WCAG) to ensure inclusive user experiences.

Our environment

  • Up to 10% of travel may be required. Employees must have a valid driver’s license and the ability to drive and/or fly to client and other customer locations.

  • The employee is responsible for owning a credit card and managing expenses personally to be reimbursed bi-weekly.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
