Role & Responsibilities:

  • Perform all activities regarding marketing and sales of MEC (USA)’s import/export/customs house brokerage services in a designated geographical location.
  • Generate new business and service existing accounts by target planning, conducting, reviewing and reporting personal sales performance.
  • Provide input and implement sales and marketing strategies.
  • Work closely with Operations to ensure proper handling of customers’ freight and documentation.
  • Promptly respond as directed to customer RFQs and similar proposals made public by recurrent, new, and potential customers.
  • Work closely with accounting to ensure all account receivables and account payables are properly credited, billed and paid.
  • Help generate and productively use up-to-date records on tariff/contract rates on available carriers (airlines, ocean, inland/interstate trucking, etc.).
  • Provide weekly department sales productivity report and service irregularity reports.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications:

  • A.S. or B.S. degree from an accredited college or university. Minimum A.A. degree combined with an increased amount of industry/company experience may be substituted.  A high school diploma may be considered as long as the candidate shows extensive history in industry management and administration.
  • Minimum of five years of experience in freight forwarding industry in a sales or customer service assignment.
  • Proven experience in similar transportation industry-related companies.
  • Excellent sales and customer relation skills.
  • Ability to Negotiate and develop contracts, especially with senior levels.
  • Knowledge of terms and jargon that vendors, carriers and customers use in the freight forwarding industry.
  • Excellent Verbal and written communication skills.
  • Attention to detail, deadline-oriented, dependable, persistence, time management, independent, documentation skills, scheduling and reporting skills.
  • Proven ability to communicate effectively with clients and vendors.
