The ZS Controllership Team is a dynamic, hardworking and collaborative team responsible for managing the accounting, treasury, tax, and audit functions within ZS. Controllership is expected to bring logic, expertise, discipline, and a controls mindset to our business stakeholders, both internally and externally. Internal stakeholders include senior leadership, client teams and other enterprise groups, and external stakeholders include our network of lenders, audit, and tax professionals. Geographically, our team is located in Chicago and Pune, India.
What you'll do:
- The US Controller will oversee ZS's US accounting function. Collaborate with regional leads in the implementation and adherence to global accounting policies and manage the annual financial statement audit process for ZS's global consolidated financials;
- Ensure a high quality of accounting output for quarterly financial statements and monthly management reports for use by internal stakeholders, which include departmental heads and senior business leaders. Provide assurance to support the accuracy and completeness of our results in accordance with global directives, internal policies and US GAAP, as applicable;
- Assist in setting and executing the vision for ZS's global accounting function, including systems, tools, and operating model;
- Collaborate with other members of Finance to support the design and implementation of a new ERP system, including evaluating current and future-state of business processes in an effort to increase the efficiency and effectiveness of the Controllership function;
- Lead the Controllership team's management of ZS's acquisition strategy, including financial due diligence and acquisition accounting. Collaborate with business leads and other members of Finance to develop and implement ZS's integration strategy and achieve business objectives;
- Collaborate with the ZS tax team and external tax advisors to support ZS's global income tax strategy and achieve ZS leadership's objectives. Support the ZS tax team with the filing of US income tax returns prepared by external tax advisors;
- Design and implement new finance processes. Research business needs and collaborate with function leads to convert compliance requirements into process-based solutions which are successfully realized with the system and resources available. Understand business processes and anticipate areas for adding value to the services the Finance team provides the organization;
- Supervise and mentor junior controllership team members as their professional development coach. Actively participate in the development of controllership team members, provide coaching and assist in elevating the capabilities of direct reports and the controllership team as a whole;
- Lead and participate in other special projects as necessary.
What you'll bring:
- BS/BA degree in Accounting, or related area; CPA preferred, but not required;
- 10-12 years of relevant experience, either in a professional services firm or for-profit business;
- Strong understanding of US GAAP, financial reporting and analysis, and internal controls;
- Strong ERP system experience;
- Ability to flex/multitask, critically evaluate processes and collaborate;
- Intellectual curiosity and a desire to understand and add value to ZS's business;
- Fluency in English;
- Client-first mentality;
- Intense work ethic;
- Collaborative spirit and problem-solving approach.
