Job Description
Join J.P. Morgan's US Agency MBS Strategy team as an Analyst, where you'll play a crucial role in shaping our insights and strategies for institutional investor clients. As part of the Commercial & Investment Bank's research department, our team delivers top-tier analysis and analytics on mortgage-backed securities. Our coverage includes securities guaranteed by the GSEs and Ginnie Mae, and involves forecasting prepayments, understanding the underpinnings of investor demand, and interpreting policy changes. Our team has consistently been top-ranked by Institutional Investor over the past decade.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Research and Reporting: Write and produce regular research reports, including flagship publications and special topic notes, providing in-depth analysis and insights.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with economists and strategists to develop forecasts and articulate views on market trends.
  • Analytical Frameworks: Build and enhance analytical frameworks and datasets to support strategic initiatives, ensuring they remain effective in changing market environments.
  • Client Interaction: Engage with internal sales and trading teams, as well as external institutional clients, to communicate research findings and fulfill requests.
  • Trade idea generation: Contribute to trade idea generation by utilizing valuation frameworks and anticipating future market catalysts to identify market opportunities.

Key Requirements:
  • Educational Background: Bachelor's degree in a related field, with a preference for specializations in economics, math, engineering or data science.
  • Technical Skills: Knowledge of programming languages such as Python and proficiency in Microsoft Excel for data analysis.
  • Quantitative and Analytical Skills: Strong quantitative skills with the ability to analyze complex data sets and derive meaningful insights.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex information clearly and concisely.
  • Teamwork and Multitasking: Ability to collaborate effectively within a team environment, manage multiple tasks, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced, dynamic setting.
  • Experience: 1-2 years of experience in fixed income is preferred.
  • Attributes: Intellectual curiosity, a high sense of urgency, a strong work ethic, and a team-oriented mindset are essential for success in this role.
