Program Eligibility: 

  • Currently enrolled at an accredited two or four-year college/university in the United States, pursuing an undergraduate, graduate and/or law degree   

  • Graduating between Spring 2026 - Fall 2028 

  • Have access to housing and transportation within the designated city (We do not offer housing or transportation accommodations) 

  • Legally authorized to work in the United States and will not require sponsorship for employment visa status, now or in the future (e.g., H1-B, OPT, etc.) 

  • Commit to 20 - 40 hours per week (based on individual business area)

2026 Summer Internship Program Dates: June 8th, 2026- August 14th, 2026

Consumer Marketing - Global Paid Media (Onsite: CA or NY): 

How You’ll CREATE: 

The Consumer Marketing team at Universal Music Group is looking for an intern for our in-house media team to support the team’s media buying and strategy efforts. The Global Media Buying Team works across all UMG and Partner labels to execute media buys, assist in media planning, analyze campaign performance to develop best practices and case studies, and guide and improve the strategy of the Digital Media teams. 

Responsibilities include: 

Collaborate on 3-5 learning goals for the summer; identify projects and tasks that are aligned with goals 

  • Join UMG label calls – help with agenda creation, note taking, media planning and analysis 

  • Collaborate with Measurement Team on new testing opportunities and develop a case study 

  • Execute a campaign from Planning Phase > Execution > Recap 

  • Create retargeting audiences in FB/IG 

  • QA Campaigns 

  • Checking approval status for campaigns, flag if any creatives are disapproved 

  • Optimization Recommendations 

  • SharePoint updates 

Ideal candidates will have: 

  • Major in advertising/Interested in advertising  

  • Ads manager experience is a plus 

  • Comfortable with Excel, Keynote, Slack, Box is a plus 

Global Marketing - Global Marketing Priorities (Onsite: CA): 

How You’ll CREATE: 

Global Marketing Priorities oversees priority artist releases from all labels under UMG. We have specific-artist programs (IGNITE, AMPLIFY) that we set budgets for, track revenue and streams and track chart reports. We also attend marketing team meetings and participate in creative brainstorming and strategy sessions across various projects. 

  • Updating weekly priority notes 

  • Building newsletters 

  • Tracking KPIs 

  • Creating and presenting decks 

  • Understanding and interpreting Excel data for monthly global reports 

  • Understanding of pop culture and the music industry

Ideal candidates will have: 

  • Ability to pivot quickly 

  • Creative with a background in design/marketing 

 

Global Marketing - Partner Labels (Onsite: CA): 

How You’ll CREATE: 

Global Marketing/Partner Labels deals with all our partner labels like Disney Music Group, Concord Music Group, Big Machine, Moonbug, Roc Nation, ABKCO and BMG to name a few. Our team handles both global label relations and global marketing for these labels. 

  • Create Global Marketing Planners for assigned projects 

  • Research opportunities 

  • Cold call local lifestyle brands/ outlets 

  • Attend events like in-stores and help the labels execute 

  • Attend label marketing meetings   

Ideal candidates will have: 

  • The ability to cold call 

  • Strong networking skills 

  • Outgoing personality

Global Marketing - Label Relations (Onsite: CA) 

How You’ll CREATE: 

Marketing & promoting new and established artists

Global Marketing - Artist Development (Onsite: CA) 

How You’ll CREATE: 

Our team sits within Global Marketing as the Artist Development function, supporting all labels and territories worldwide. We focus on identifying and amplifying the next generation of breakout artists across marketing, A&R, strategy and international development. Our work combines creative insight, data-driven strategy, and cross-functional collaboration to help build culturally relevant, globally-scalable artist stories. Interns will support key artist development initiatives across the global marketing team and gain hands-on experience across marketing, A&R insights, and global strategy while collaborating with teams across labels and territories. 

  • Tracking priority releases 

  • Maintaining and updating internal knowledge bases 

  • Assisting with research and insights 

  • Contributing to creative brainstorms around campaigns, content, and emerging opportunities.  

 

Ideal candidates will have: 

  • Cultural fluency and trend awareness: A strong pulse on emerging artists, social trends, and youth culture across platforms like TikTok, Instagram, and YouTube 

  • Research and insights skills: Ability to synthesize data, identify patterns, and clearly communicate takeaways around artists, audiences, and markets 

  • Creative thinking: Comfort participating in brainstorms, pitching ideas, and contributing to campaign and content development 

  • Digital literacy in music platforms: Familiarity with DSPs (Spotify, Apple Music), social analytics, or basic media/marketing tools is a plus 

UMG Commercial Services - °1824 (Onsite: NY)

°1824 is UMG’s culture marketing and creative strategy team focused on the connection of artists and brands directly to fans through storytelling and experiences. Our offerings include content creation, ideation, PR, A&R, creator partnerships, experiences and digital marketing. With a staff of passionate and highly-skilled visionaries, we own a direct connection to youth culture. °1824’s first-of-its-kind network of young creatives allows us to make an impact locally while thinking globally. We redefine artist development while building the careers of future industry executives. 

Responsibilities include: 

  • Marketing strategy & brainstorming

UMG Commercial Services - Brand Partnerships (Onsite: NY) 

How You’ll CREATE: 

Our team services the artists across all the REPUBLIC Collective rosters with individual brand opportunities and works with the larger UMG for Brands team to identify and secure talent for global multi-talent partnerships that feature media, production and more. In addition to the daily tasks our intern will complete a creative project for our department simulating a brand partnerships pitch, album release sponsorship and an artist brainstorm.

As a Corporate Communications & Global Impact Team intern, you will help to amplify UMG's vision for meaningful positive change through internal and external communications, community engagement and philanthropic work including the Universal Music All Together Now Foundation (ATNF), event functions and special projects. Our team works at the intersection of communications, corporate events, and social responsibility, and as a part of our team, you will help to drive positive impact across the company, industry, and local communities in which UMG operates. 

 

Our intern will assist with various research projects including but not limited to: 

  • Industry philanthropic work

  • Executive and corporate events

  • Internal and external communications 

  • Assist with newsletter and presentation build outs, including a capstone project, and any day-to-day tasks of the team.
