The Monad Foundation is a team of dedicated ecosystem and community builders who are on a mission to massively grow the impact of decentralized tech. We believe that the Monad blockchain--the performant and parallel EVM Layer 1--will help decentralized apps eat the world.

The Role

Monad Foundation is looking for a passionate and detail-oriented UI/UX Designer who thrives in the dynamic world of crypto and Web3. You will be responsible for crafting elegant, intuitive, and accessible user experiences on web, mobile, and other mediums for a range of web3 products and interfaces for the Monad blockchain. In this role, you will also work closely with Monad ecosystem teams—startups building on the blockchain— in providing design guidance, support, and execution as they build innovative decentralized applications.

This is a two month contract, with the opportunity to convert to a full-time permanent position.

What You Will Do

  • Design and iterate user interfaces for Web3 applications including wallets, dApps, dashboards, and trading platforms

  • Translate concepts into user flows, wireframes, mockups, and prototypes that lead to intuitive user experiences with final hand-off to engineering

  • Maintain and continuously evolve a consistent design system and UI component library for use within and across the Monad ecosystem for cohesive identity

  • Conduct and glean actionable insights from user research, usability testing, and data-driven design improvements

  • Work alongside cross-functional team members across marketing, growth, community, ecosystem, and engineering to bring ideas and initiatives to life

  • Collaborate directly with ecosystem teams and deeply understand their product and user flows in order to support their UI/UX needs, including consultations, design sprints, branding advice, and hands-on asset creation

Who You Are

  • 4+ years of experience in UI/UX design, ideally with exposure to crypto/Web3 products

  • A strong portfolio that showcases proficiency in creating landings and marketing design for conversion, and user-centric design solutions for complex and/or technical products

  • Expert in design-focused software and prototyping with Figma

  • Experience working in agile development environments

  • Passion for crypto, blockchain technologies, and the decentralized future

Nice to Have

  • Solid understanding of HTML/CSS and basic knowledge of JavaScript or frontend frameworks (React preferred)

  • Experience in an agency setting, juggling multiple work streams simultaneously, managing expectations with effective communication

  • Experience designing trading interfaces, onchain data dashboards, or wallet products

  • Understanding of EVM chains, smart contracts, and blockchain primitives

  • Motion/interaction design skills and experience with micro-interactions

    • Jitter, Adobe AfterEffects, Rive, Lottie

Why Work with Us

  • Challenging problems. You’ll work on extremely challenging problems with massive impact.

  • Huge opportunity. The Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM) standard is ubiquitous, but existing EVM-compatible chains are slow and bandwidth-constrained. Monad’s core innovations offer developers the best of both worlds (portability and performance) and are a game-changer for mass user adoption in crypto.

  • The right team. You’ll be part of an exceptional and highly-motivated team

  • Culture. We’re a lean team working together to achieve very ambitious goals. We are united in our culture of collaboration, low ego, and high-quality output. As an early member of our team, you’ll help continue to shape our culture.

Salary and Benefits

Benefits for full-time employees may include medical, dental, and vision insurance (100% coverage for employees); generous paid time off; paid parental leave; and 10 company-observed holidays.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
