The Opportunity

Bring your expertise and design flair to a highly collaborative, creative, and innovative team with a market-leading technology product suite. We are seeking an experienced and creative UI Designer to join our Design & UX team to help refine (or even redefine) the look and feel of both our products. As one of the key members of the design team, your work will have a large impact as we collectively work to deliver incredible product and brand experiences.

You will work closely with stakeholders to develop scalable visual design patterns and interfaces by collaborating with UX & Product designers to create high fidelity, pixel perfect, and accessible designs and design systems. This position will report to our Lead UX Designer with engagement across the organization to help build and refine our interfaces and design patterns.

As a UI Designer at Chronograph, you will:

  • Help define and iterate on the platform’s UI and visual standards
  • Collaborate with UX designers to create, document, and maintain a design system
  • Work with engineers and other designers to ensure designs and interactions are consistent and meet user needs
  • Work with UX and product to transform lo-fi concepts into beautiful, thoughtful, and pixel-perfect hi-fi designs
  • Collaborate with design, product, engineering, and marketing to understand both user needs and technical constraints
  • Participate in usability research and design reviews

You will be successful in this role if you:

  • Have strong visual design skills and at least five (5) years of professional experience relating to SaaS applications
  • Have a portfolio showing your past work (please include the password with your application!)
  • Have experience creating and using a design system
  • Have designed for enterprise software or other financial applications
  • Are passionate about components, typography, color, accessibility, layout, iconography, and design in general
  • Are highly proficient in design tools such as Figma and Miro
  • Understand Figma variables and can create clean components
  • Understand usability heuristics, best practices, and patterns
  • Can give and take meaningful feedback
  • Can design within constraints
  • Know when to push boundaries and when to exercise restraint
  • Understand and care about accessibility
  • Nice to have: Advanced CSS skills and motion design experience

If you don’t tick every box above, we’d still encourage you to apply. We’re building a diverse team whose skills balance and complement one another.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
