Job Description SummaryThe Tubes & Ducts Zero Defects / Advanced Quality Leader will drive use of the zero defect tools to improve manufacturing quality of current production parts as well as Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) for NPI/Transition parts with the objective to safely deliver defect-free products on time and at cost.
The Zero Defect / Advanced Quality Leader will lead standardization of tools and processes to be followed throughout the business and will work closely with other functions to develop the strategy and effectively implement a zero-defect culture through the Aerospace AS9145 APQP standard and AS13100 quality standard. Additionally, this leader will be an APQP functional and technical expert within Tubes & Ducts, with responsibility for leading operational improvement and mentoring technical talent within GE Aerospace.Job Description

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership across Tubes & Ducts part-family implementing a Zero Defect Culture.  This requires cross-functional engagement to support use of Zero Defect tools.
  • Teach and coach the proper use of the Zero Defect tools: DFMEA, PFMEA, Control Plan, Measurement System Analysis (MSA), Process Capability (Cpk/Ppk), Mistake Proofing, Statistical Process Control (SPC), and Problem Solving.
  • Provide direct support and management for high-priority Zero Defect projects across the Tubes & Ducts part-family for current production parts.
  • Provide leadership across Tubes & Ducts part-family for Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP), and will require cross-functional engagement to support APQP deliverables and structured PPAP review & approval.
  • Support each of the sites within Tubes & Ducts to develop procedures and work instructions that meet APQP and AS9145 / AS13100 requirements.
  • Teach and coach the proper use of APQP Deliverables and PPAP Elements.
  • Provide direct support and management for critical APQP projects across the Tubes & Ducts part-family for NPI/Transition parts.
  • Maintain standards for Zero Defects tools and APQP deliverables across Tubes & Ducts, including centralized lessons learned and shared knowledge (e.g. reference PFMEAs).
  • Domestic and international travel to the sites within Tubes & Ducts part-family to work directly with quality team and cross-functional team members to provide training, coaching and demonstrating the use of Zero Defect tools and APQP execution.  As required, this role may also engage with external suppliers to teach and coach Zero Defects and APQP.
  • Regularly engage in continuous learning and continuous improvement activities which can include both internal & external training and conferences. 

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college (or a high school diploma / GED with at least 4 years of experience in manufacturing, quality, or engineering).
  • A minimum of 5 years of Manufacturing Engineering and/or Quality Engineering in Aerospace/Aviation or Automotive industries. 

Desired Characteristics

  • Prior Quality Engineering, Quality Assurance or Quality Control experience.  This includes understanding and interpretation of engineering drawings (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing), metrology/measurement methods & equipment, understanding statistical methods & tools required for process capability studies and MSA studies.
  • Experience using Zero Defect tools and implementing & executing APQP in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience/expertise with AS9100/AS9145/AS13100 industry standards and use of RM13100 materials, as well as regulatory compliance (FAA, etc…)
  • Ability to operate autonomously and to take initiative to develop strategies and tactics to achieve organizational goals and objectives.  This includes analyzing and resolving problems; strong/effective communication; planning, prioritizing and executing on strategic goals and project management; and the ability to work in a diverse and dynamic work place.
  • Knowledge of the manufacturing and production processes found across Tubes & Ducts part-family which includes tube bending/cutting, tube & manifold fabrication and welding, brazing (torch, vacuum, induction), traditional machining (turn/mill/drill), electro-discharge machining, press-forming, casting, laser cutting, bracket bending/welding.
  • Demonstrated ability to teach, coach, and mentor technical teams.

The base pay range for this position is $110,500 - 184,200. The specific pay offered may be influenced by a variety of factors, including the candidate’s experience, education, and skill set. This position is also eligible for an annual discretionary bonus based on a percentage of your base salary/ commission based on the plan. This posting is expected to close on June 13, 2025.
