About Stepful:

Stepful is reimagining allied healthcare training by offering affordable, online, instructor-led, and AI-supported programs that help learners—especially those from underserved communities—launch high-demand healthcare careers.

In addition to our direct-to-consumer training, Stepful partners with leading healthcare institutions to build talent pipelines and address the growing shortage of allied health workers. Our graduates, including Medical Assistants, Pharmacy Technicians and more, go on to work at major employers like CVS, NY-Presbyterian, and Walgreens.

Stepful is backed by Y Combinator, Reach Capital, and AlleyCorp, with a recent $31.5M Series B led by Oak HC/FT. We were named the #1 EdTech company in the U.S. by TIME for 2025.

We’re unlocking the full potential of the global workforce—improving access to quality healthcare for everyone, everywhere.

Our values:

We credit much of our success to our exceptional team. We’re looking for mission-driven individuals who thrive in fast-paced, sometimes ambiguous environments, and embody our four core values:

Care first: We do whatever it takes for our students to succeed.

Learn quickly: We test, learn with data, and iterate.

Build together: We win when we rely on each other.

Own it: We show up, take initiative, and show pride.

A Stepful clinical educator bridges the gap between classroom learning and real-world healthcare practice. They are skilled practitioners who inspire confidence in students through hands-on demonstration and patient guidance. Unlike traditional clinical instructors who may work independently, Stepful clinical educators follow our standardized curriculum and teaching methodologies while bringing their real-world expertise to life in the lab and clinical settings.

The opportunity:

We are looking for a full-time Clinical Educator to teach Stepful’s Surgical Technology cohorts across multiple locations. This role is dedicated to delivering high-quality skills labs, supporting students through remediation, and ensuring strong clinical outcomes.

  • Ensure students achieve mastery of skills before advancing to clinical rotations.

  • Coordinate with hospital preceptors to align experiences with program goals.

  • Document student progress and report clinical outcomes.

  • Represent Stepful on client and partner calls, supporting our solutions team with implementation.

  • Provide insights to enhance the student and partner experience.

What you’ll bring:

  • Associate’s degree or higher

  • Current Surgical Tech certification (CST or NCCT)

  • 3+ years of experience teaching Surgical Technology in a lab or school setting

  • Hands-on experience as a Surgical Technologist in the operating room

  • Current BLS certification

Bonus points if:

  • CRCST certification and/or experience teaching Sterile Processing

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related healthcare field

  • Experience with competency-based education models

  • Experience supporting diverse and underserved student populations

  • Familiarity with NCCT certification requirements

  • Previous experience with online or hybrid education programs

Interview Process:

  • Varies by role, but generally:

    • Introductory call with Talent Acquisition team member

    • Interview with Hiring Manager

    • Take-Home Assignment

    • Virtual Panel Interview

    • On-Site Panel Interview

Benefits and Compensation:

  • Meaningful Equity Stake

  • Subsidized Medical, Dental, and Vision insurance plan options

  • 401(k)

  • FSA, HSA and commuter benefits

  • Open vacation policy, including:

    • Guidance of 15 days PTO annually

    • Stepful closed the last week of December

    • 15 work-from-anywhere days

    • 10 public holidays observed for 2025

The target base salary range for this opportunity is $80,000 - $95,000 and is part of a competitive total rewards package including equity and benefits. Individual pay may vary from the target range and is determined by a number of factors including experience, internal pay equity and other relevant business considerations.

Stepful will cover reasonable travel expenses required for the role. This includes flights, transportation, and hotel accommodations. All travel-related expenses must be pre-approved by the employee’s manager and comply with the Company’s travel policy.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
