Job Summary:

This position exists to improve the performance, engagement and retention of colleagues through effective management of on-boarding and continuous training practices.  Works with site management to track, communicate and manage all company-wide training programs and provide support to address remedial training needs at the local level.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Work with Department Leads, Human Resources, and Safety Leaders to develop and manage effective on-boarding training programs with a focus on colleague performance.

  • Select and indirectly manage On-The-Job Trainers in Transportation and Warehouse Departments through regular training meetings, training effectiveness evaluations, one-on-one discussions and overall performance management of the Job Trainer.

  • Manage an on-boarding process for new Drivers and Warehouse initial training by leveraging Sysco Operations Academy Programs.  Manages extended on the job training throughout the entire 90-day orientation period; work through Job Trainers to develop a process that includes follow-up training as needed for new associates to reach acceptable new-hire performance standards.

  • Track and analyze all training-related activity and communicate progress to site leadership.

  • Work with Supervisor and Manager on the job to facilitate translation of new skills and knowledge from classroom experiences to job performance.

  • Conduct gap analysis and create solutions for existing associates in high-volume positions including Drivers and Warehouse Selectors who are not performing at acceptable levels.

  • Lead discussions with Site Leadership related to on-boarding and training activity for high-volume positions including Drivers and Warehouse Selectors; prepare and discuss documentation and recommendations during weekly meetings.

  • Actively participate in the Training Manager community including regular calls, projects, and events.

  • Drive a culture of feedback as part of development process through effective Performance Management; responsible for instructing and managing feedback process for all positions within the company.

  • Participate in colleague check-in processes and retention playbook activities in order to understand and improve early experiences.

  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements:

Education:

  • 4 year degree in Training & Development-related field or commensurate experience in similar field.

Experience:

  • At least 2 years’ experience in Training-related job.

  • Experience with building and managing on-boarding training programs for individual-contributor positions.

  • Experience with building coaching & feedback cultures.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Very strong ability to coach and provide constructive feedback at all levels

  • Excellent communication skills including speaking, writing, and listening to others

  • Strong analytical skills

  • Ability to make sound judgments

  • Strong presentation skills including utilization of PowerPoint and excellent public speaking skills

  • Strong understanding of OSHA, DOT, Work Place Safety and Food Safety.

  • Ability to keep informed on legislation affecting the center.

  • Time management and organization skills.

Physical Demands:

  • Work is a combination of sedentary, standing, walking and bending

  • Some travel may be required

  • Flexibility to work a schedule that meets the needs of the center

Mental/Visual Demands:

  • Must be able to read at a distance close to the eyes, with or without correction

Working Conditions:

  • Office, warehouse and outside environments

Equipment Operated:

  • Automobile, PC, Microsoft Office Applications

License or Certification:

  • Driver’s license
