Job Description

AECOM is seeking a Traffic Engineering Manager to be based in Orange or Los Angeles, CA and will be a hybrid role.

We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Traffic Engineering Manager in traffic engineering projects. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in designing, managing, and implementing traffic engineering solutions that enhance safety, efficiency, and sustainability.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage traffic engineering projects from conception to completion.

  • Develop and review traffic impact studies, traffic signal designs, and roadway safety audits.

  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including planners, designers, and construction managers.

  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations and standards.

  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers.

  • Prepare and present project proposals, reports, and findings to clients and stakeholders.

  • Conduct field investigations and data collection to support project development.

  • Utilize traffic simulation software and other engineering tools to analyze and solve complex traffic issues.

 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • BA/BS + 6 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education

  • California Professional Engineer (PE) license.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree.

  • 8+ years of experience.

  • Proven track record of working with LADOT and Caltrans.

  • Experience in Traffic Signal Design, Traffic Control, Signing and Striping, and Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS).

  • Proficiency in design software (e.g., AutoCAD, MicroStation).

  • Strong knowledge of traffic control devices, roadway design, and traffic safety principles.

  • Excellent communication, leadership, and project management skills.

  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.

  • Experience mentoring or supervising other engineering professionals.

  • Ability to communicate and coordinate effectively with diverse audience.

  • Experience in construction phase services.

  • Proven and demonstrated ability to successfully work with diverse teams.

  • Proven track record of successful project delivery.
