About the role:
We are seeking an expert GitHub Migration Consultant to lead a high-priority enterprise consolidation project. You will be responsible for migrating and centralizing source code from various disparate GitHub Organizations and BitBucket instances (Payments, Marketing, and CasePeer) into a single, unified "8am" GitHub Enterprise Organization.
The primary goal is to establish a gold-standard environment focused on governance, security compliance (PCI, SOC 2, PII), and seamless CI/CD integration.

What you'll do:
Governance & Architecture- Org Design: Architect the "8am" GitHub Org structure, including nested teams and administrative roles.
- IAM Integration: Partner with IT/DevX to map Okta/Workday groups to GitHub Teams, ensuring a scalable Least Privilege model.
- Ci/CD Instrumentation - partner with Platform Engineering team to develop CircleCI integration plan for new Organization
- Standardization: Establish mandatory repo naming conventions and a metadata tagging taxonomy (Product, Environment, Compliance status).
- Policy Creation: Define Enterprise-level policies for branch protection, secret scanning, and third-party app restrictions.
- Documentation and Training: Responsible for helping develop and complete training materials for Developers transitioning into GitHub as well as changes to developers currently in GitHub.
- Dependency Mapping: Audit GitHub Actions and CircleCI pipelines to identify and update hardcoded references and secrets.
- Delta Analysis: Map permission differences between BitBucket and GitHub to ensure zero-loss access transitions.
- Cleanup: Lead the "Stale Asset Review" to archive or delete legacy repositories.
- Tooling: Configure and deploy migration tools (e.g., GitHub Enterprise Importer) to move repos while preserving history and PRs.
- Execution: Lead "Migration Weekends" and phased schedules to minimize developer downtime.
- Ownership: Programmatically apply tags and ensure every repository is assigned a Team Owner.
- UAT: Coordinate with Product Owners to validate repository integrity and pipeline functionality.
- Documentation: Deliver a comprehensive "GitHub Lifecycle Playbook" for post-migration management.
About you:
- Expert GitHub Administration: Deep experience with GitHub Enterprise (Cloud or Server) and the GitHub Enterprise Importer (GEI).
- Migration Experience: Proven track record of migrating complex codebases from BitBucket to GitHub, including handling permission deltas.
- Infrastructure as Code (IaC): Proficiency in Terraform for managing GitHub resources (teams, repos, permissions) at scale.
- Security & Compliance: Familiarity with managing repos under PCI, SOC 2, and PII constraints.
- Technical Ecosystem: Experience with Okta/Workday integrations and CI/CD tools (CircleCI, GitHub Actions).
- Demonstrated experience leveraging AI tools and technologies to improve workflows, enhance decision-making, or drive innovation.

Additional Information
The pay range for this position is between $90 - $100 per hour. 8am is committed to offering competitive, fair and commensurate compensation and has provided an estimated pay range for this role. Actual compensation may vary based on job-related knowledge, skills, experience and education. This position is non-exempt and eligible for overtime.
