About the Role

eMed is seeking a Temporary Assistant General Counsel to provide maternity leave coverage for approximately four months. This is a unique opportunity to step into a high-impact legal role within a fast-growing digital healthcare company navigating novel regulatory landscapes across telehealth, FDA compliance, data privacy, and government and commercial reimbursement. As eMed grows, this role may be eligible to transition to a permanent position, although not guaranteed.

Reporting directly to the General Counsel, you will serve as a key legal partner to the business, providing strategic counsel across a broad range of corporate, regulatory, and commercial matters. You will help ensure continuity of legal operations and compliance during this critical period, with the opportunity to make a meaningful contribution to eMed's growth story in the digital health space.

We are seeking a candidate with particular interest and enthusiasm in working on issues of health innovation, telemedicine, and digital health that are transforming how healthcare is delivered, now and in the future.

Who You'll Work With

You will work closely with the General Counsel and collaborate across departments including Product, Engineering, Business Development, Clinical Operations, People Operations, and Finance. You will also help manage relationships with outside counsel and external regulatory stakeholders.

What You'll Do

·   Provide day-to-day legal support across the organization during the maternity leave period, ensuring seamless continuity of legal operations

·   Consult on and handle corporate legal processes including commercial and corporate transactions, regulatory matters, distribution, licensing, compliance, corporate governance, labor and employment, privacy, intellectual property, and outside counsel management

·   Research and provide strategic advice on a wide variety of federal and state healthcare regulatory and compliance matters, including telehealth, FDA, data privacy, and government and commercial billing

·   Draft, review, and negotiate a broad range of commercial agreements, vendor contracts, partnership agreements, and other legal documents

·   Develop and update company policies and positions on emerging legal and regulatory issues

·   Research, anticipate, and guard the company against legal risks in a rapidly evolving digital health environment

·   Guide managers and business stakeholders to ensure compliance with applicable rules, regulations, and internal policies

·   Support M&A activity, litigation management, and intellectual property matters as needed

·   Manage and coordinate outside counsel on active matters

What You Have

·   Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an ABA-approved law school with excellent academic credentials (recent graduates encouraged to apply)

·   0–4 years of experience in healthcare, life sciences, medical device, laboratory testing, telemedicine, or related field 

·   Experience with corporate legal matters such as contracts, regulatory compliance, or similar areas preferred

·   Familiarity with healthcare regulatory frameworks, including telehealth, FDA requirements, HIPAA/data privacy, and reimbursement models 

·   Excellent writing, communication, and analytical skills with superior attention to detail

·   Strong interpersonal and presentation skills, with the ability to communicate effectively at all levels of the organization

·   Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities during a defined engagement period

·   Solid computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Office and legal research tools

·   Genuine enthusiasm for health innovation, digital health, and telemedicine
