About this role
BlackRock’s Aladdin Business supports the investment process through the development, deployment, and support of our enterprise investment management platform, Aladdin® and eFront ®, which are used by executives, portfolio management, risk management, trading, compliance, and operations teams. The Aladdin and eFront franchise provides strategic advisory and enterprise investment system services for institutional clients around the world.
Aladdin Client Engagement is focused on maximizing the value of the Aladdin and eFront ecosystem through client partnership, engagement, and education. We work closely with clients as trusted advisors, problem solvers, and business partners, connecting their priorities to the right products, expertise, and delivery teams.
We are seeking an experienced Director to lead a portfolio of large and strategically important private markets relationships. The Director will be accountable for the overall health, strategy, and commercial growth of these relationships. This role requires a consultative approach, strong commercial judgment, executive-level relationship management, and a working understanding of private equity, private credit, and related operating workflows.
Key responsibilities include:
Client Relationship Management
Own a portfolio of large private markets clients or a defined industry segment, with accountability for relationship health, strategic direction, retention, and growth.
Establish strong relationships with senior client stakeholders, including CIOs, COOs, CTOs, investment leaders, operations leaders, and business sponsors.
Understand each client’s business strategy, investment model, operating environment, and priorities, and translate those needs into a clear relationship and engagement plan.
Act as a trusted partner, bringing relevant Aladdin and eFront expertise to help clients achieve their business objectives.
Strategic Management
Set and execute the relationship strategy for each client, connecting business priorities, executive engagement, product adoption, delivery, retention, and growth.
Engage clients to define key strategic and tactical initiatives, then mobilize internal teams to oversee and execute cross-functional solutions.
Propagate clear client narratives to senior management and bring the voice of the client into internal prioritization and product discussions.
Advise clients on how to use Aladdin and eFront capabilities across the private markets lifecycle, including investment, portfolio, data, operational, and middle-office workflows.
Commercial
Set and execute the commercial strategy for each relationship.
Identify, quantify, and advance new revenue opportunities and maintain a credible harvesting pipeline.
Support commercial negotiations and coordinate across product, sales, implementation, and client teams to onboard additional business.
Market Intelligence
Develop a strong understanding of private markets trends, client operating models, regulatory developments, and the competitive landscape.
Translate market and industry insight into relevant executive-level dialogue and strategic recommendations for clients.
Represent Aladdin and eFront at relevant industry forums and help shape a differentiated private markets narrative.
Collaboration Across Partner Teams
Plan and lead executive engagement strategies across BlackRock, connecting the right senior leaders and subject matter experts to the client’s most important priorities.
Partner with Product, Sales, Implementation, Value Delivery, Engineering, and other teams to deliver coordinated client outcomes.
Ensure client feedback is clearly articulated, tracked, and connected to business impact through development and deployment.
Serve as a strong culture carrier and thought leader across the team.
People Management
Lead, coach, and develop client team members within the region or assigned portfolio.
Create clear accountability, career growth opportunities, and stretch assignments for team members.
Raise the standard for strategic relationship management and cross-functional collaboration.
Required Skills and Experience
7+ years of experience in financial services, financial technology, consulting, account management, or relationship management.
Demonstrated experience managing complex institutional client relationships and senior internal stakeholders.
Strong understanding of private markets, with working knowledge of private equity, private credit, and associated investment or operational workflows.
Commercial acumen, including the ability to set relationship strategy, identify growth opportunities, build a pipeline, and support commercial negotiations.
Familiarity with buy-side investment management and middle-office workflows.
Outstanding communication and presentation skills, with the ability to convey complex concepts simply and clearly to clients and senior stakeholders.
Strong judgment and a consultative problem-solving approach, with the ability to move from client need to coordinated execution.
Self-starter who performs well in a fast-paced, high-accountability environment and works effectively across a global, multi-disciplinary organization.
Undergraduate degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, Business, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
Preferred Skills and Experience
Prior experience with eFront, Aladdin, or another investment management or financial technology platform.
Experience covering large investment managers, general partners, asset owners, banks, insurers, or asset servicers in the private markets ecosystem.
People leadership experience, including coaching and developing high-performing client teams.
Prior experience in business development, sales, strategic consulting, or product partnership roles.
CFA, FRM, CIMA, CAIA, or another relevant professional qualification.
