Overview

We are seeking a detail-oriented System Requirements Document (SRD) Writer to lead the development, documentation, and maintenance of system requirements that support complex business and technical initiatives. The ideal candidate will collaborate closely with business analysts, product owners, architects, and engineering teams to ensure all functional and non-functional requirements are clearly defined, traceable, and aligned with stakeholder needs and system capabilities. This is a remote role. All qualified candidates MUST be authorized to work in the United States without requiring visa sponsorship. Please note that we cannot work C2C.


Duties and Responsibilities

·       Develop, structure, and maintain System Requirements Documents (SRDs) that clearly articulate system functionality, interfaces, and performance expectations.

·       Translate business and user requirements into detailed, testable system-level requirements for development and QA teams.

·       Collaborate with subject matter experts (SMEs), architects, and technical leads to ensure accuracy, feasibility, and completeness of requirements.

·       Ensure traceability of requirements throughout the development lifecycle, maintaining alignment with business objectives and design specifications.

·       Create and manage requirements baselines and participate in change control processes to document modifications.

·       Review and edit existing documentation to improve clarity, consistency, and compliance with organizational standards.

·       Support system design reviews, test planning, and validation activities by providing documentation and clarification on system behavior and constraints.

·       Collaborate with project management and engineering to identify risks, dependencies, and assumptions related to system requirements.

·       Maintain document repositories, version control, and templates to ensure uniformity and accessibility.

·       Continuously improve documentation processes and standards to improve efficiency and quality.


Requirements

Qualifications and Requirements

·       2+ years of experience in systems analysis, technical writing, or requirements documentation for complex software or network systems.

·       Experience in cable, telecommunications or wireless industry is required.

·       Demonstrated experience producing SRDs, SRSs (Software Requirements Documents), or other structured technical documentation.

·       Strong understanding of software development lifecycles (Agile, Waterfall, or hybrid), and requirements traceability.

·       Excellent technical writing, communication, and analytical skills.

·       Proficiency with tools such as Confluence, JIRA, Visio, or similar requirements management systems.

·       Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

·       Ability to work independently and manage multiple concurrent projects.

·       Bachelor's degree.



Compensation

For individuals assigned and/or hired to work in Colorado, Sand Cherry Associates is required by law to include a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role. This compensation range is specific to the State of Colorado and takes into account a wide range of factors that are considered in making compensational decisions including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and delivery model. This is a long-term consulting engagement with an annual rate of $75,000-$83,000. Years of experience, level of education, geographic location, unique skills/qualifications for the specific role and potential certifications can be key factors in the final compensation for this role.
