Company Overview

Red 6 is an innovative Augmented Reality (AR) technology startup leading the way in synthetic air combat training. Our primary technology, supporting our ATARS product, enables pilots to simulate the cognitive challenges of flying while accessing realistic, scalable training in dynamic outdoor environments.

Position Overview

Red 6 is seeking an experienced Technical Supply Chain Manager to lead supply chain execution for internally designed, complex aerospace products supporting both internal production and contract manufacturing partners.

This role sits at the intersection of engineering, manufacturing, procurement, and suppliers, ensuring that critical components, assemblies, and custom hardware are sourced, qualified, and delivered in alignment with Red 6’s strict DOD, aerospace, and industry standards.

The ideal candidate has deep experience managing supply chains for complex electromechanical systems including PCBAs, harnesses, precision mechanical components, and custom aerospace hardware. This position will play a key role in managing Red 6’s blended Approved Manufacturer List (AML) strategy, where certain custom components are sourced directly by Red 6 while most materials are procured through sub-contractors and contract manufacturers (CMs).

This is a highly cross-functional leadership role requiring strong technical understanding, supplier engagement, and clear communication with senior leadership.

Key Responsibilities

Supply Chain Strategy & Execution

  • Manage the technical supply chain for complex aerospace electromechanical products.

  • Lead sourcing strategies supporting both Red 6 internal builds and contract manufacturer production.

  • Support scaling of production through supplier capacity planning and risk mitigation.

  • Ensure continuity of supply for critical components including PCBAs, custom electronics, cables/harnesses, and precision mechanical assemblies.

  • Identify and mitigate supply chain risks related to schedule, cost, or technical constraints.

Blended AML & Supplier Management

  • Manage Red 6’s direct and blended AML strategy, where custom components are sourced directly by Red 6 while other components are procured by contract manufacturers.

  • Partner with Procurement to develop and maintain the Approved Manufacturer List (AML).

  • Evaluate and onboard suppliers capable of meeting aerospace and DOD program requirements.

  • Work closely with suppliers to ensure manufacturability, quality compliance, and schedule adherence.

  • Support supplier development initiatives to improve capability, capacity, and reliability.

Contract Manufacturer (CM) Collaboration

  • Act as the primary technical supply chain interface between Red 6 and contract manufacturing partners.

  • Support CMs with sourcing of complex assemblies and components required for production builds.

  • Coordinate supply chain readiness for NPI builds, qualification builds, and production ramp.

  • Travel to CM facilities to resolve supply chain issues and support production readiness as required.

Supplier Performance & Quality Collaboration

  • Partner with the Red 6 Quality organization to ensure suppliers meet traceability, documentation, and aerospace compliance requirements.

  • Monitor supplier performance including delivery, quality, and responsiveness metrics.

  • Support resolution of supplier-driven production issues and corrective action initiatives.

  • Ensure suppliers support requirements for serialization, lot traceability, and documentation.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Work closely with Engineering, Manufacturing, Production, Supply Chain, Procurement, and Quality teams.

  • Support design teams with supplier capability assessments during product development.

  • Provide regular updates to senior leadership on supply chain risks, mitigation strategies, and supplier performance.

  • Support planning activities including material readiness for builds and production ramp planning.

Required Qualifications

  • 7+ years of experience in technical supply chain management, sourcing, or supplier management in aerospace, defense, or high-reliability electronics industries.

  • This is a Technical Role – Requires a degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Materials or related field.

  • Experience managing supply chains for complex electromechanical systems including PCBAs, cables/harnesses, and mechanical assemblies.

  • Proven experience working with contract manufacturers.

  • Strong understanding of aerospace quality standards and traceability requirements.

  • Experience supporting NPI programs and production ramp in complex hardware environments.

  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate across engineering, manufacturing, procurement, and quality organizations.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Excellent communication and executive presentation skills.

  • Willingness to travel to supplier and CM facilities as required.

  • Qualified candidates must have the ability to obtain a security clearance. This requires U.S. Citizenship

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience supporting DOD or aerospace production programs.

  • Familiarity with AS9100 quality environments.

  • Experience managing custom component supply chains.

  • Experience with ERP/MRP systems and supply chain analytics tools.

  • Background in electromechanical aerospace systems or avionics hardware.

Full-Time Employee Benefits

  • Healthcare, Dental, and Vision (100% coverage for Employees)

  • Paid time off, including vacation, sick, paid holidays, and parental leave

  • Short and Long-Term Disability

  • Flexible Spending Account (FSA)

  • 401(k) Retirement Plan

  • Voluntary Worksite Benefits (Accident, Critical Illness, and Hospital Indemnity)

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
