About Aalyria:

Aalyria is a leading technology company that supplies laser communications technology and temporospatial software-defined networking platforms to the aerospace industry. With technology acquired from Google, Aalyria is at the forefront of innovation in satellite and airborne mesh networks, as well as cislunar and deep-space communications. We are revolutionizing the orchestration and management of planetary mesh networks using any radio or optical spectrum, any orbit, and any hardware across land, sea, air, and space.

Role Overview:

We are seeking a Technical Recruiter to support hiring across our engineering organization, spanning software and hardware functions, with some international (UK) hiring support. You’ll join a lean, highly collaborative recruiting team and play a meaningful role in scaling the company during its next phase of growth.

This role is ideal for a recruiter who has a solid technical foundation, thrives in fast-moving environments, and is excited to recruit for complex, mission-driven engineering work, particularly in satellite communications, telecommunications, and aerospace-adjacent domains.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Own full-cycle recruiting for mid-level and senior engineering roles across software and hardware teams
  • Partner closely with Engineering leaders and hiring managers to understand technical requirements, team dynamics, and near- and long-term hiring needs
  • Develop and execute targeted sourcing strategies for specialized engineering talent using LinkedIn Recruiter, outbound outreach, referrals, and industry-specific communities
  • Recruit for roles within satcom, telecom, aerospace, or adjacent deep-tech domains, translating highly technical requirements into compelling candidate messaging
  • Conduct recruiter screens to assess technical alignment, motivation, and overall fit
  • Support international hiring efforts, primarily in the UK, coordinating across time zones and aligning with People Ops on regional hiring considerations
  • Guide candidates through the interview process, ensuring a high-touch, transparent, and inclusive candidate experience
  • Maintain strong pipeline hygiene and provide regular updates on funnel health, risks, and hiring progress
  • Collaborate with the broader People team to improve interview processes, role calibration, and hiring efficiency
Required Qualifications:
  • 3-5+ years of technical recruiting experience, supporting engineering roles in software and/or hardware
  • Prior experience recruiting for satcom, telecom, aerospace, defense, networking, or infrastructure-heavy engineering teams
  • Strong sourcing skills and demonstrated success engaging passive technical candidates for hard-to-fill roles
  • Experience partnering closely with technical hiring managers and navigating complex role requirements
  • Comfort working in startup or high-growth environments with lean teams and evolving priorities
  • Familiarity with international recruiting (UK preferred) or strong interest in expanding into global hiring
  • Excellent communication, organization, and stakeholder management skills
  • A candidate-first mindset with a strong commitment to fair, inclusive hiring practices
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience recruiting across hardware-software integrated systems (e.g., embedded, systems, RF, optical, networking)
  • Exposure to government, aerospace, or regulated environments, including working with security- or compliance-sensitive roles
  • Experience contributing to or improving recruiting processes, interview frameworks, or employer branding efforts
  • Experience recruiting cleared candidates
What We Offer:
  • Innovative Environment: Work at a cutting-edge company shaping the future of aerospace communications.
  • Impactful Work: Directly contribute to critical national security programs and initiatives.
  • Growth Opportunities: Expand your career with opportunities for professional development and advancement.
  • Inclusive Culture: Be part of a collaborative, supportive, and inclusive workplace where your contributions matter.
  • Flexibility: Flexible working arrangements including hybrid remote/in-office schedules.
  • Compensation and Equity: Competitive salary, comprehensive benefits (401(k), dental, vision, health, life insurance), paid time off, and equity options.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
