TECHNICAL RECRUITER

Freeform builds AI-native manufacturing systems that unify software, hardware, and physics to produce industrial-scale parts at the speed of human ideation. By treating manufacturing as a single integrated system, we unlock a new era of innovation where complex hardware is designed, built, and scaled without limits.

We are looking for a highly motivated Technical Recruiter to play a critical role in building the team that is creating the world’s most advanced metal 3D printing technology. You will run a full desk focused on sourcing, screening, interviewing, and onboarding top talent. You will work closely with your teammates and company leadership to identify areas of improvement in the recruiting process, and will implement measures to drive innovation, efficiency, and standards of excellence within hiring practices. You will have an opportunity to recruit for a wide variety of deep-tech, operational, and leadership level disciplines, and will get to play a part in programmatic efforts such as intern and university recruiting. The right person for this role will have a “no job too big or small” mentality, an unwaveringly positive attitude, a mission-driven mindset, a team-oriented attitude, and no ego.

Responsibilities:

  • Full cycle recruiting including sourcing, screening, hosting onsite interviews, running interview debriefs, managing offer processes, and closing
  • Provide a high-touch experience throughout the recruiting process with internal stakeholders and candidates while continuously keeping the pipeline active and supporting critical, hard-to-fill technical positions
  • Meet with teammates and company leadership to discuss headcount, new requisitions, hiring strategy, and/or interview feedback
  • Expand on talent acquisition efforts such as organizing company tech talks, attending external events, and other avenues of getting in front of top talent
  • Collaborate with teammates on employer branding strategies and campaigns
  • Analyze data, track metrics, and develop innovative ways to raise the bar on how to hire talent

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 1+ years of technical recruiting experience in software, machine learning, mechanical, electrical, or similar engineering discipline

Nice to Have:

  • In-house recruiting experience highly preferred
  • 3+ years of technical recruiting experience
  • Experience recruiting for a startup or deep tech environment
  • Experience with executive search or similar low-volume, hard-to-fill roles
  • Experience with pitching equity or stock options during the offer process
  • Able to operate in a scrappy way, producing results without big budgets or mature infrastructures
  • Comfortable interfacing directly with hiring managers including Director, VP, and C-level technical leaders
  • Able to manage multiple on-going projects/searches, flexible to change, and adaptable to shifting priorities
  • High tolerance for uncertainty and “building the plane as we fly it”
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Location:

  • We are located in Hawthorne in a 35,000 square foot, state of the art facility featuring large open spaces for team collaboration, R&D, and production, as well as easy access to the 405, 105, and 110 freeways. Our facility is in the heart of LA’s vibrant emerging tech eco-system alongside many other high growth start-ups and enterprises.
  • Our fast-paced, cross-functional environment is built on close collaboration, and as such, this role requires full-time onsite presence (five days a week), with very limited exceptions.

What We Offer

  • We have an inclusive and diverse culture that values collaboration, learning, and making deliberate data-driven decisions.
  • We offer a unique opportunity to be an early and integral member of a rapidly growing company that is scaling a world-changing technology.
  • Benefits
    • Significant stock option packages
    • 100% employer-paid Medical, Dental, and Vision insurance (premium PPO and HMO options)
    • Life insurance
    • Traditional and Roth 401(k)
    • Paid vacation, sick leave, and company holidays
    • Generous Paid Parental Leave and extended transition back to work for the birthing parent
    • Free daily catered lunch and dinner, and fully stocked kitchenette
    • Casual dress, flexible work hours, and regular catered team building events
  • Compensation
    • As an early-stage startup, the salary range is intentionally wide as we determine the most appropriate package for each individual taking into consideration years of experience, educational background, and unique skills and abilities as demonstrated throughout the interview process. Our intent is to offer a salary that is commensurate for the company’s current stage of development and allows the employee to grow and develop within a role.
    • In addition to the significant stock option package, the estimated salary range for this role is $75,000-$150,000, inclusive of all levels/seniority within this discipline.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
