Key Responsibilities:

Project Planning & Execution

  • Lead full project lifecycle for data warehouse and reporting migration projects, including scoping, planning, resource allocation, execution, and post-migration validation.

  • Define and manage project milestones, deliverables, and success criteria in collaboration with technical leads and business owners.
  • Proactively identify, escalate, and manage risks, issues, and dependencies across workstreams.

Data & Reporting Migration Oversight

  • Oversee migration of data from legacy systems and on-premises data warehouses to cloud-based platforms (e.g., Snowflake, Azure Synapse, AWS Redshift, or similar).
  • Coordinate the migration of reporting assets (dashboards, reports, data models) from legacy BI tools to target platforms (e.g., Power BI, Tableau, Looker).
  • Ensure data integrity, quality validation, and reconciliation processes are incorporated into each migration phase.
  • Partner with data engineers and architects to document data lineage, transformation logic, and schema changes throughout migrations.
  • Oversee UAT planning and execution, ensuring business stakeholders validate migrated reports and data outputs prior to cutover.

Stakeholder & Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Act as the primary liaison between business teams (Operations, Finance, Compliance, Sales) and technical teams throughout migration projects.
  • Facilitate regular project status meetings and working sessions with both technical and non-technical audiences, as needed to complete project.
  • Translate complex technical concepts and migration impacts into clear, accessible communications for business stakeholders and leadership.
  • Coordinate with the Legal and Compliance team to ensure project activities align with RESPA, TILA, ECOA, HMDA, and applicable data governance requirements.

Governance & Documentation

  • Maintain comprehensive project documentation including requirements, architecture decisions, migration runbooks, and lessons learned.
  • Ensure proper change management processes are followed, including change control boards and impact assessments for production data systems.
  • Support post-migration monitoring plans to ensure stability and adoption of new platforms and reporting environments.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • 5+ years of project management experience, with at least 2 years focused on data, analytics, or technology infrastructure projects.
  • Demonstrated experience managing data warehouse migrations, ETL/ELT pipeline transitions, or large-scale BI/reporting platform migrations.
  • Strong understanding of data concepts including data modeling, data warehousing, dimensional design, and reporting best practices.
  • Familiarity with cloud data platforms (Snowflake, Azure, AWS, GCP) and modern BI tools (Power BI, Tableau, Databricks, or similar).
  • Proven ability to manage multiple concurrent projects in a fast-paced, regulated environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with experience presenting to senior leadership.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business, or a related field; or equivalent practical experience.
  • Hands-on knowledge of SQL.

Preferred:

  • PMP, PMI-ACP, or SAFe certification.
  • Experience in the financial services, banking, or mortgage industry.
  • Familiarity with regulatory data requirements relevant to mortgage lending (HMDA, MISMO data standards, CFPB reporting).
  • Experience with Agile and hybrid project methodologies.
  • Exposure to data governance frameworks and tools (e.g., Collibra, Alation, Purview).
  • Experience coordinating with compliance, legal, or audit teams on technology projects.

Core Competencies:

  • Risk and issue management
  • Cross-functional stakeholder communication

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
