Location:  U.S. Remote (Central Time Zone preferred)
Company: OpenTeams – Leading Open-Source AI Solutions Provider
Reports to: Head of Project Success

The Role

As we scale rapidly, OpenTeams is seeking a Technical Manager - AI/ML  to support initiatives with major technology companies developing and advancing core deep learning frameworks and compilers.

This role is not about traditional project management or orchestration—it’s about being a technical collaborator. You’ll work alongside OpenTeams engineers (who are contributing directly to frameworks such as PyTorch, JAX, and TensorFlow), as well as client engineers and account leaders. Your focus will be to understand the design-level concepts, help capture requirements, and ensure alignment between technical execution and client needs.

Think of it as bridging the gap between “the people designing the building” and “the people building it.” You won’t be directing from the outside—you’ll be partnering closely with the builders, helping to interpret, translate, and structure work so that both technical and business stakeholders stay aligned.

Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with engineers, clients, and account managers to understand technical goals and proactively address project needs.
  • Participate in technical discussions with engineers and capture high-level requirements, risks, and tradeoffs.
Provide structure and clarity: help teams maintain shared awareness of plans, priorities, and status.
  • Build and maintain trust-based relationships with key client stakeholders at multiple organizational levels.
  • Ensure alignment between technical deliverables and client objectives.
  • Surface risks, challenges, and opportunities for expansion, renewal, or deeper collaboration.
What We’re Looking For
  • Proven experience partnering with technical teams in a highly technical, customer-facing environment (e.g., project manager, technical lead, consultant, or equivalent).
  • Strong foundational understanding of machine learning and deep learning frameworks (e.g., PyTorch, TensorFlow, JAX) with the ability to follow technical discussions and capture requirements.
  • Experience supporting Fortune 50 or enterprise-level clients is a plus.
  • Curiosity, adaptability, and the ability to quickly get up to speed on new technical concepts.
Grow With Us

At OpenTeams, growth isn’t just about the company—it’s about you.
We believe the best careers are built at the edge of your potential. That is where new tools, ideas, and technologies change the world. Here, you’ll work alongside pioneers of AI, solving problems that matter: making AI more transparent, more ethical, and more empowering.

Opportunities aren’t limited by geography. You’ll collaborate with global experts, contribute to open source projects that power the world’s technology, and stretch your skills daily.
We invest  in curiosity, creativity, and ownership. That means you’ll be trusted to take big swings, supported to learn fast, and celebrated for bold thinking.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
