At Zoox, we are developing the next generation of transportation. We are designing, from the ground up, a fully autonomous, zero-emissions vehicle, purpose-built for AI and our customers. Our mission is to make mobility-as-a-service safer, cleaner, and more enjoyable for everyone.

We are seeking a highly technical and strategic Technical Product Manager to own the product vision and roadmap for the entire suite of tools used to build, validate, and maintain our machine-readable map. Your primary customers are the Mapping teams who produce this foundational map. This is a high-impact, strategic role focused on evolving and scaling our mapping platform. You will be responsible for defining the long-term vision and unified product strategy for our mapping toolchain. Your mission is to deliver a cohesive, world-class platform that empowers our Mapping team and directly accelerates the accuracy, scale, and efficiency of our map production, enabling our vehicles to navigate the world safely and effectively.

In this role, you will:

  • Product Strategy & Vision: Develop and champion a long-term product vision and consolidated roadmap for the machine-readable mapping toolchain, aligning engineering efforts with key company milestones.
  • Customer-Obsessed Discovery: Partner deeply with your primary customers to understand their end-to-end workflows, identify critical pain points, and uncover opportunities for step-change improvements in efficiency and data quality.
  • Flawless Execution: Drive the full product development lifecycle. Author clear, comprehensive Product Requirements Documents (PRDs) and user stories, manage the prioritization and backlog, and work cross-functionally with engineering, UX, and program managers to deliver high-quality solutions.
  • Stakeholder Alignment: Serve as the central point of contact for the mapping tool platform. Communicate your roadmap, priorities, and project status clearly and proactively to stakeholders and leadership, ensuring alignment across all dependent teams.
  • Measure What Matters: Define, track, and report on Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for your products. Use data to measure the impact of your solutions and to inform future product strategy.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of Technical Product Management experience, preferably working on complex, data-heavy tools or enterprise-scale platforms.
  • Demonstrated ability to own the full product lifecycle, from initial user research and discovery to launch, measurement, and iteration.
  • Deep technical fluency. You must be comfortable discussing system architecture, data models, APIs, and data pipelines with senior engineers.
  • A "customer-first" mindset with a proven track record of building empathy and solving complex user problems.
  • Exceptional stakeholder management and communication skills; ability to build consensus and drive clarity from ambiguity in a fast-paced environment.

Bonus Qualifications

  • Experience developing AI/ML or robotics products, particularly autonomous vehicles.
  • Experience with large-scale data processing pipelines, data annotation, or data visualization tools.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
